Elite Dangerous: Odyssey Update 7 Notes

Is it a useful comment at this point though? I'm not so sure.
Not sweeping any issues under any rug, as you can see, EVERYTHING is being considered from the feedback so far but people are only being a bit more mindful of when it comes to tagging David really...
@sallymorganmoore would it make sense to setup a separate forum section for issues related to specific update? I think it was already demonstrated several times (by FDev itself) that the issue tracker is way less useful in collecting user feedback than the forum. The search, voting, upping the topics on the forum is much easier and transparent to the community than those functions on issue tracker. This way you may define the rules to avoid "nonconstructive" (non-useful) comments by defining and pinning up section rules.

Btw I don't think the original post from @Cmdr ST4R F0X deserved to be removed from this thread for not being considered as useful.

Im in a bit of a rhythm right now but yes I should really do this next time.

Oh I wasn't aware it had been deleted? I was just a bit irked by the fact David got tagged in a bit of a "clap back" approach at some point - that's the bit I personally didn't find useful but I didn't remove anything so not really aware of that I'm afraid.

It's matte.

(I have the Iridescent Scorch, and while it's true that the paint finally, after 7 updates, covers the entire SRV again, the shiny metallic effect from Horizons is still missing.)

As you say ... at least it covers the entire SRV again.

Yo, it's getting a bit frosty around these parts, Commanders.
Noticing a few feathers ruffling a bit at the moment. Totally appreciate we're not in a glorious land where we want to be yet and tempers can fray at any point, but let's try and stay on target with making things right in as sensible a way possible, without bouncing off anyones nerves.

TOTALLY fine to have frustrations, just remember not to make it personal or keep digging in holes that are going to cause any feelings of targeted mischief.

Here for you.

Pronbably a problem with the physics based rendering.. it's gonna be hard to get something 'shiny' when the texture underneath it is supposed to be matte.. I'm really worried about this though because i spent a mahooosive amount of cash on paint jobs on my xbox account. I don't want them to be ruined. This is at least looking closer to a match but the Horizons one is still significantly better looking!

I agree it's probably down to PBR. It should be possible to fix tho ... my Chieftain is looking fairly reasonable.

It looks beautiful ... even at 10 fps! ;)

I'm joking, my framerates don't seem bad so far.

Have a nice day Sally - don't let the bar stewards grind you down!
Now I'm jealous, as my Iridium Gleam is still being kept from me. :(

I....see.
Hope you have a better day as it goes on, ObiW. Here to help with game related stuff (not so much the refund side but) if need be.
Sally I hope you don't take this personal (wouldn't ever be my intention, I always separate individual employees from the company they work for), but the point stands as I'm referring to a multi million £ company (which happens to be your employer) which promised and advertised a product, took my money (at a premium price to be their free Alpha tester, but yes I agreed to this so my own fault), and I patiently waited for months, without putting through a refund request just prior to release date - unlike others - in the (ultimately futile by the looks of things) hope that things would get turned around (I wasn't too pleased around the Alpha with the state of the game but I still had faith that things would improve). All while I remember myself defending Frontier and the game to posters at the time who joked about "release will be the Beta" etc. Egg truly on my face.

Why Frontier decided to release the game in the state it had, we can all figure it out I'm sure and for fear of moderation will not go further into this. But it ruined a lot of goodwill, certainly did for me, and on top of all the bugs, visual/performance issues and the game design choices, the whole cosmetics issue is annoying me particularly given I spent 500+ Euros on stuff that no longer looks as advertised, at least in Odyssey.

I consider it a sunk cost at this stage and a valuable life lesson (never pay such sums of money for game cosmetics again), regarding the refund for EDO it's not even a money issue for me but one of principle. If you bought a broken product wouldn't you want your money back? This entire debacle is 100% on Frontier the PLC which makes millions in profits by selling their software to customers. So if they mess up (and they have) I think it's pretty reasonable that they'd have to face some headwind accordingly - which is what I referred to in my (somewhat flippant) comment above.

But thanks for wishing me a better day, I wish you the same; I reckon you certainly need it more than I do.

Edited out some duplication

It seems they're taking a piece-meal approach on an individual basis with cosmetics, some look fine at this tage (Stygians for me for example), while others still don't. So I imagine it's a case of crossing fingers and toes if/when the PJ you may have a particular issue with gets the update treatment. And by looking at the Azure skins, it's not even a proper guarantee either that it'll look like anything in Horizons.
