TIL (I originally posted this on the reddit thread about this, but this will allow me to track changes to the guide better):
Diamonds and Triangles relate to hardpoints. Something to keep in mind while watching it and actually check it, like Korr noted below.
Upping Sys doesn't decrease the Shield Recharge rate, just how many hits the shield can take. So I've tended to move it to Shields a little late rather than in anticipation of hits and need to reverse that. The rest of the Power Management I manged to figure out on my own, or through the Combat Scenario (I'm still stuck on the Sidewinder Faceoff, but perhaps upping shields before he makes his attack run instead of during or after will help).
I wasn't exactly sure what the icons meant under Navigation, but haven't really spent much time with it yet. So good to know, especially when I do a run. I've done one cargo run so far, the first time I lost the load as I must have loitered too long getting out as I got shot right after leaving the dock area and the message seemed to indicate a loitering offence, though it must have just been barely as I thought I got out fairly well on time. The second time I made the mistake of trying to jump too far and didn't realize I had to go to the jump point in between first. I skimmed that part of the guide, so it may be mentioned already or might needed added that some ships, especially your starting ships, won't be able to make far jumps and will need to make it via a couple jumps.
Another time, during my very first ever attempt to land, I got shot as I got near the station. I think because I accidentally deployed my hardpoints while in the no fire zone and it took a while to figure out how to pull them back (wasn't sure the keybind at that point) and may have accidentally shot a shot off while trying to get them back in. I've since then moved the hardpoint button off my joystick and off any main keyboard area, I've got Voice Attack set to deploy them if I need to deploy them faster than pushing the fire button does on its own.
I never noticed red or green lights on the station's outer docking area. Also good to know.

Suggestions:
Put in the two main Trade Calculators (there may be more than the two I know of, in which case substitute or added to the list) and suggest when to use which one, suggesting a player keep them open in a separate monitor if possible or just alt-tab to it when ready. Slopey's ED Best Profit Calculator: http://www.oisltest.com/DM/BPC/[1] Trade Query: http://www.elitetradingtool.co.uk/[2] I'm not personally sure when to use which one, they seem more or less the same basic thing, but one or another usually seem to have issues. Of course then again, I've only managed to use them on one trade run, which as I noted before ended in disaster on the first attempt, and a miscalculation on the second which just meant a second jump.

Excellent work.

Some minor issues spotted.

Under FAQ: How do I take screenshots.

Save location needs updating to: "your name"\Pictures\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous"

You could also add that pressing Alt-F10 takes a high res screenshot 4 x your current screen resolution.

You might also add somewhere that in addition to displaying frame rate with ctrl-F you can display bandwidth usage with ctrl-B.

If you want to add controller setup information I have all the in game descriptions of the different settings listed in a spreadsheet you can find here.

Just expand the coulombs and you will find them listed..

thanks for great tips - FAQ section is actually official FAQ i took from forums here, but i will add CTR+B and change screenshot location :)

wow, very nice template, just what i needed, all inputs with descriptions!
great job, i will definitely insert that at the beginning of guide :)

would be nice if, when you make any changes there, just send me updates what to add/change so i keep it up to date.

That's getting better and better.
Something I found on Elite:Dangerous Wiki: http://elite-dangerous.wikia.com/wiki/Insurance_costs

nice, will add insurance :)

but i am currently trying to avoid any specific numbers (i.e., damage, prices etc. for weapons) as they will be changed until gamma and now i don't know how much space i will need to reserve for each one, so it's easier to create all from scratch than remake it later. but that's the plan to add all to one place more or less visually appealing with printing out in mind ;)

Well, making a page with a two column table with approximate insurance costs means you don't have to worry about space anymore, and specific numbers can indeed wait until gamma. Just say circa 20k or whatever for now.

i was talking about weapons and other stuff that we know not much about, as i already threw in insurance costs, just not uploaded it yet ;)

Excellent Pilots Guide

I have put together a pilot's guide (tutorial, manual, help, whatever you want to call it) for Elite: Dangerous -
used all information i could find on forums (thank you guys!) and i hope this piece of information will be good read for new and experienced pilot's and if you know any tips and tricks please do share with us!

Download from Mediafire

This is a great piece work; I was hunting up to date ship specifications and costs. This provided that and much much more. Thank you very much for what must have taken many hours to produce.
