Elite Dangerous | Powerplay 2.0 exploration and trade balance changes

Not sure, but I don't think it's normal how AARC switches state several time per day?
That's probably graphing the old (i.e. pre-3.3) FactionState field, which just shows one of the active states across the entire faction, fairly arbitrarily for a faction as spread out as AARC is.

The "Active State Periods" graph is the one which follows the newer (i.e. over half the life of the game) multiple-states per faction, different-states per system record.

Fdev are just learning from arrowhead dev, nerfing everything benefit but never pay attention about those things that works bad such as killing pirate or bounty hunting, 5 merit per kill huh? even group massacre as for 60kills, and u get 300 merit for your hard working whole afternoon and the first module start from tier34. Besides, the onlything new is concord cannon. Just admit it, you want people to play your games and paying money like wargaming and gaijin, but u just can't make more new things.

Are you aware that the rare to merit ratio is distance related? If you are purchasing at lave, make sure that the system where you sell is the furthest from lave as possible.
Yeh … the furthest I found on my last session was about 200LY but the map - whilst allowing you to filter by Power / State - is pretty janky to use … gonna check again next time I’m on to see if there somewhere further that would be better.

FWIW, i got up to 100 merits per ship kill hunting in a res site, and pp cz seems to pay even better per ship..

I had one give out 129 merits, this was a foreign power ship that was wanted and had a bounty, a fun fight too.

Addendum: some times it is the eagles with rail guns, and vipers with plasma accelerators that pay the big merits, not always the anaconda's and pythons, I'm glad about this as they often take more work to kill; I'm using fixed hard points though.

The simple fact that it will take combat pilots close to 100 hours doing the current best methods to just get the FIRST module is absolutely absurd
Frontier
Tell us you don't play your own game
Without telling us
I'm doing combat whilst picking up my fellows escape pods, it's making between 1 and 2 thousand merits an hour easy. I'm not counting though, could well be more.

I just learned the hard way that thermal conduit fun can destroy your cargo! :D

I had a run-in with a flight of two pirate Eagles just today. They shut down my thrusters several times, destroyed my point defense, and badly damaged my hull. Definitely have to re-engineer my favourite ship 😬

It's purely based on combat rank and any bounties they have
The ship they are in is irrelevant

Currently the most combat merits is SLFs at enemy power carriers
They are all elite
So they all give 71 merits each with combat ethos
And boy is there a lot of them

And please god don't nerf it, it's still plenty worse than rares and a lot of work to get good numbers
Just add a modifier for the ship they are in so the condas are worth the time to kill, because they typically are not.
And the condas in signals with decent rank are stacked with mrps so shooting out their pp or fsd is quite the chore, and often impossible before they jump out

I think it's totally unfair to penalize people who have been exploring for months and just came back to bubble to see the new PP2 changes... They DID THE WORK.. so pay them appropriately as per what is in the guide... saying you can't get merits because you were doing the activity that generates merits is ridiculous... what you going to not grant merits to people who bought commodities from another carrier in order to sell them in the system they are trying to reenforce? Penalize people who have carriers and can store more goods? Let's not make the rules so complex and anti-player that the new PP2 ends up being as disregarded as the old PP was for years.
I feel like it's heading in that direction already. Player retention is a problem primarily becauise of the utterly convoluted sytems and rules that apply to literally everything in this game. PP2.0 doesn't seem to be much of an improvement.

Greetings Commanders,

Following a review of the use of exploration data and trading on Powerplay 2.0 we will be making the following changes:
  • We will be temporarily disabling the merit and system score gains for Exploration and Genetic Samples data for Powerplay 2.0
  • You can continue to explore, gather and sell data but it will not count towards Powerplay 2.0
  • We have a deployed a fix to balance Powerplay 2.0 trading - Trades will no longer result in excessive merit generation. We will continue to monitor and adjust as needed.
  • We will be adjusting the Powerplay 2.0 ranks of Commanders who have excessively benefited from trading and exploration data
  • Once our review is complete we will announce when exploration data will be eligible to count towards Powerplay 2.0
We thank you for your patience.

May we please have an update on the 'review'. It seems a bit incongruous to simultaneously release a brand new exploration ship and then immediately invalidate exploration/ bio for PowerPlay.

I think we don't discover all Powerplay 2.0 things yet.

If you want to earn Merits by combat, just go to enemy's Stronghold Carrier and kill seletively only NPC "Fighters". If you have enough skill, you can earn 5000~10000 Merits per hour. In my record, 2100 in 11 minutes but all ammos gone. (My squardon member's max record is 4000 Merits in 10m.)

Tried that.. didn't get any at all. Does it have to be a local enemy ie landlocked to my powers border.? Just seems odd l got nothing cos l did what you described but with a power further away. Just point out I'm experimenting atm. Also PPcz medium l went into was empty! Relogged still empty after flying back into it.
