Elite Dangerous | Powerplay 2.0 Questions and Answers

i went to an unoccupied system within the sphere of a fortified system, and collected stuff from power wreckage POIs. The galmap PP description does say this is a valid activity there ("collect escape pods").. but when I went to turn it in in the same system I got no merits for it (I tested with one item, knowing maybe it wouldn't work); I thought, ok maybe I should turn them in to the Fortified system, which I tried - nothing. I tried the local Stronghold - nothing.

Items from unoccupied systems are of no use, or... explain?

Is there any way to pledge / progress with any Power without doing on-foot stuff?
Sure - do ship stuff instead.

No Power requires you to do on-foot activities and they're generally not all that efficient anyway so you'd only do them if you liked them.

The most you might get is a weekly task that involves on-foot work - but you can just ignore those if you don't like the look of them.

I apologize for my English. Please tell me what needs to be done for this task. I flew to the system and collected the wreckage of the ships, brought them to the representative of the power (in the contacts menu) at the station, but the task was not completed.

Go to the system in the task assignment. FSS scan to find the power signal sources. Visit each one and collect the required items as listed in the assignment. I suggest a collector limpet and a cargo rack big enough for limpets plus the number of needed cargo. The interesting part is that that assignment does not list where to turn the items in.
Turn in 1 item to the power contact at a starport/base in that system, only 1, and make sure you get merits for it. If you got merits, turn in the rest.
If the above did not work, return to the closest system for your power and again turn in 1 more item to the power contact. If that works, turn in the rest. I think the turning in, in the system you collect the goods is the right way. But of course Fdev will not give us all the details.

Good Luck

Hi, I've a question about the 5 weekly assignments. If I've reached Rank 2, does that mean I'm recognised and don't need to do the weekly assignments anymore and can get on with doing the Squads PP specific PP tasks instead?

Is there somewhere online where I can see:

  • Current powers ranking
  • Which systems each one holds
  • etc

?

Once you've finished the first set of weekly assignments, the rest are optional 🙂

As far as I understand, if I leave a Power, for a while, to perform some CG, and then return to the same Power, my rank will be reset ?

Correct. If you decide to leave a power and become independent, all your progress with that power is reset to zero.

I think it's a bad decision. Before joining another Power, I think the rating could have been maintained.

Thank you.

The problem is that it'd just encourage module shoppers again. Get to level 34, buy modules, swap to the next power, buy modules, etc. It'd also encourage players to swap around and manipulate from within (5C?). By making it so harsh if you leave a power, it encourages loyalty, and prevents unwanted exploits.

You misunderstand me.
1. I'm in Power1 - reached level 5 - left, did CG, came back to Power1 - level remains 5. I continue.
2. I am in Power1 - reached level 5 - logged out, joined Power2 - reached level 10 (from 0) - logged out, joined Power1 and there is already 0.

As long as I don't enter another Power, my rating in the last Power is not reset.

If I understand this correctly ... the suggestion is that merits would be lost when pledging to a different power as opposed to when initially de-pledging.

This would give players the ability to "de-pledge" to avoid hassle from other power NPCs / players whilst doing non-power related activities and then re-pledge to the same power for no loss of progress.

Ah, that makes more sense, thank you for the clarification. I guess it really depends on what you're looking for from the system. I personally don't have an issue accepting whatever hassle comes from another power when in their space on other business, that's just a consequence of publicly declaring an allegiance, in a game that has very few consequences, so it's a nice change of pace for me. I can see it frustrating some players significantly though, but I'd like to see a middle-ground if placing a pledge "on-hold" where you don't reset to zero, but you still lose some progress, or there's a delay on when the pledge reactivates, for example a full PowerPlay cycle before you start earning merits again.
