Elite Dangerous | System Colonisation Beta Details & Feedback

Oh, I know, and I know they've been tweaked a tad today ... I expect further tweaks on this front over the coming days. I'm not going to fret over that right now.
Xenia told me they buffed it. Thx, But I just want the game running again. I'm ready for a marathon run again.

edit: I think the game is back up? Inara loaded my update.

the range should have been 20 LY, as the universal cartographic range to sell explo data. would have been a kind of logic to me

Does anyone know if I can reclaim a system after I have canceled the build?
So far, a large proportion of posters say they couldn't.
Others say you can do so once, but not twice.
Some say they could, but experienced a cool-down / waiting period of a few minutes up to several hours.

I wouldn't take the risk before FDev address this.

Why would any solo player opt for anything other than a small port for the 1st port/settlement. Not rocket science. Start small. I've nearly gathered everything already on my own... easy peasy.
This does sound reasonable. And building a T3-Starpoint solo can and maybe should be a project, you achieve in little bits over weeks or even months (every week a little bit, to avoid burning out...). Hauling 10k over 20 Weeks seems not unreasonable, even if I admit, that as a solo player I would prefer smaller amounts needed. But I can also understand, that this could make it too easy for groups...

My only question: does building a T1-station as first Station lock you out of any content or hardlock your system in a specific state you can not change later? Or is there no difference whether you first build a T3 station and then a T1 or first a T1 and then a T3?

Big News IF TRUE. Can't get into game to verify, of course . . .
Yes, it is true!
[Edit: Screenshot from yesterday, servers are still down.]

So in this forced break while the hamsters are spinning up, I had some time to reflect on how things are going.

Commanders: Can we at least have some commitment to improve the systems we colonize? It's going to stink for everyone if there's just a layer of systems with 1 small station at the edge of the original bubble because everyone just finishes their initial station and then goes on to colonize the next system. This may never improve as players stop playing as they move on to the next shiny game in their wishlist, and stop working on their systems. Let's make these new colonies something worthy of the potential this update offers.

FDev: Can we have an automated colony improvement path? Once a colony system is set up with certain minimums, it would logically expand itself slowly as the population settles in. This would prevent the above mentioned single small station systems, as each would slowly grow into something nice. It would also free commanders to choose how active they want to be in growing their systems, or colonizing new systems.

Just some thoughts.

No thanks. Give me able to colonize from fleet carrier and I won't make those garbage one port systems.

Log out and back in. It may take a few tries, or even closing out to desktop.
It took a number of desktop resets, but it eventually did come back. Thanks!

As everyone else has been seeing, it's slow and crash-y right now. Every loading screen has a >50% of timing out it seems. I'll let things settle.

Was hoping to get some footage for an early video, but it'll have to wait. :)
