What really irritates me is the lack of refinery stations.
The only way to create CMM composites that is visible to me at the moment is:
Switching system economy type to "Refinery" by building the single possible refinery installation type. Which is a tier2 surface hub without landing pads
Then build the Large Tier3 surface port that costs 6 Tier3 points and needs as many materials as an Orbis, which is 215k tons of goods.
I just hope that there are some things not yet known, otherwise it will be Civil Unrest in the forums.

Is there any dependancy of system total population from type of planets present in system? Do earth-like planets boost population? What about terraforming - can we start terraforming on terraformable planets? If no - can this feature be added?
Can we build small automatic extraction sites on planets (Tier 1)? To have Tier 2/3 constructions we need a lot of Tiier 1 installations, and lack of slots for space/ground stations.

sorry, wasn´t expressing myself clear enough - renaming could be done parallel to Patches, updates etc. - wasn´t hitting for immediately... but like in Plejades-, Witchhead-, Coalsack-Sector and in Colonia, that could be done batch by batch - Lore/RPL wise its released by Pilots Federation - and burocracy needs time, as we all know

This method is perfectly effective. Use of third party tools is a player choice, always.
Sometimes if you go to the galaxy map while docked at a station, the system map of nearby systems is available for purchase. I think it's random. Otherwise you have to visit and fss scan the target system. Overruling these existing mechanics seems unnecessary, but I suppose some extra developer hours could make system map always purchasable for colonisation targets.
On the other hand, if I'm going to invest significant hours in building a system I'd be sure to spend two minutes taking a look at it in person before committing!

- The location for the primary port is seemingly random. It often ends up in orbit of an unlandable world. This means that more often than not a primary port will end up over a planet that cannot produce anything. Thats especially bad when considering Tier 3 stations, as they cost much more effort to build and cannot be supported by a surface based economy.
- Claiming with a Tier 3 station has no apparent benefits. You are locked to an absolute megastructure that does not award construction points when finished, while people who spam outposts are claiming one system after another in a frenzy.
- There is no balance to the building types. The facilities are supposed to decide the economy of a system, but how is the one available refinery hub supposed to compete with 10 different hightech facilities?
- The pregenerated systems in the galaxy do not follow the same rules as we do. Orbital stations do not only sell whatever is on the planet below them. Make markets "global", not body based, otherwise all the systems with "1 facility slot" planets are worthless.
- Before the release, you have mentioned a systems value multiple times in the interviews. Apparently though, systems do not have any inherent value other than building slots. It is unfathomable to me, how Earthlikes, water worlds, ammonia worlds, etc. could be absolutely worthless to colonisation. Why would the systems that pay the most at Universal Cartographics often be the WORST locations for colonies? You ignore their value, you take the Terraforming economy type out of the colonisation system... The only thing that seems to be relevant right now is to get a system with a 100+ bodies. This has little to do with the 10 YEARS of exploration leading up to this point.
- Player Minor Faction submitting is still offline. Existing PMFs can expand as much as they want now. Either allow new factions to be created right now, so they can compete or you can lock the process forever.
- People saw this expansion as a way to deal with shortages of critical goods, like Tritium. Now, things like CMM composites and Insulating Membranes joined the list. Please, make it clear how things are generated, multiplied and sold in a system. People will find out eventually, but "finding out" in this context means tens to hundreds of hours building stuff that cannot be erased afterwards.

yep, otherwise you may end up with a Florida-Landdeal. You by it a low-tide, everything seems fine, and when the construktion crew arrives its 3 feet under water
my guess is that FD (without directly saying it) hints with the fence-pole that you should start with an Outpost instead of a larger structure...., but yes I agree, primary port position should be selectable, not pre-defined

A question (probably a dumb one) about the Colonisation ships placement.
I was under the impression Colonisation ships will only appear in the uninhabited systems you want to build stations in etc.... is that correct?
I was just looking at the galaxy map and noticed for example that in the Exphiay system there's at the moment 7 colonisation ships. The system is one that's been inhabited by the Federation since the game was first released.
So why are there Colonisation ships there?....can anybody explain?

Seeing the number of pages full of chatter, I already doubt they will ever read any of this.
I envy your first world problems, guys (like the low colonization range, the scarcity of CMMs, non-selectable first station position, etc. etc.).
Poor plebeian me cannot even seem to claim a system.
The system is uninhabited, colonizable, unclaimed, it's within range, the UI allows me to click the "Configure Primary Port" button, I can select station type and layout, I can push the "Confirm Claim 25000000 Cr" button, but after a couple of seconds of "Processing Request, Please Wait" notification it always ends up with the following stupid error message saying "System Claim U" (actually it's only a half-U, since the message box pops up in the lower right corner of the screen so I can only assume it means "Unsuccessful" or something like that).
It has happened like 50 times now...

It's not the squadron that becomes a faction. It's the faction your squadron is aligned to (if it is aligned to one) that becomes the 3rd faction, once the 1st asset is built.

could of been coincidence that it just happened to work when a specific outpost was picked for the initial one
After you finish building your first station, the colonisation ship goes to the system where you used the colonisation contact to make the claim. I suspect that's what's happening with these. You could check and see if 7 new colonies are in range of the system with the 7 ships.
I know the game is called "Elite", but don't be such an elitist. Also beginners have the right to colonize a system.

I'm not going to try the bigger stations, because I'm definitely not going to haul 200k+ tons of commodities to this crappy system.
I belive, many squadrons are going to create clusters of colonized systems with balanced econimic (extraction refinery, hitech, etc).
But to plan which stations has to be built, we need to know their relative impact, and system impact on the productivity.

- how types of planets affects population (earth-like, water, terraformable - do they matter?) and how population affects production rate
- what are colony, tourism and military economics are useful for?
- how types of planets and rings (and percentage of materials on them) affects producton rate for raw material extraction
- how material spots in rings and their types of materials affects production rate of extraction sites?
- how different types of settlements in the same system or nearest systems affects production rate (i.e. - are NPC pilots supposed to transfer goods between stations)
- we need data to estimate wether its better to build mono-economic systems (one extraction, another industrial) or universal economic (all kinds of economic present in the same system)
- if mono-economic systems provide better production rates and generate higher revenue - what is the optimal distance (if any) between colonized systems with complimentary economic?

I guess you tried quit to desktop and restart game? Were the 50 times all in the same system? Maybe someone has claimed it but you somehow have stale data that it isn't claimed?
