@Paul_Crowther Whilst I have reluctantly accepted that you are unable to give out any information (Barring that there is no information) or imply a timeline for the pause I would like to ask one thing. Is there going to be a "Heads_up" so to speak of when the pause will be lifted before it is. I've been waiting/loitering in a system for a while now and the passing locals appear to be getting suspicious of my intentions.
I know your not able to give out much at the moment but even a one word answer would be appreciated, obviously one of those answers is more favourable to myself lol. I also appreciate that at the moment it is a very busy time for you and the rest of the Fdev team. For what it's worth considering I haven't been able to take part yet it looks good. As I love trucking that won't be a problem for me though have to admit even though I have read up on colonization I still don't get the construction pointing system and how each type of "building" effects the population and economy but I digress.
Have also thought about something that might help on the forums I know from my point of view that I find it incredibly frustrating when there is no reply to a query and you have no idea if it's even been read or not. Maybe put a check Mark on the message so that it shows it's been acknowledged by a Cm. Again only going from my point of view but it would relieve a lot of the frustration of not knowing whether it's been seen especially when the forums are this busy, may even help to combat the appearance that it's just being avoided. Anyways talking about my frustration I'm off to Sacrifice some Survivors in Dead by Daylight to vent said frustration and wait for the "Heads-Up o7 and keep your chin up Cheers Daze
Extended Server Maintenance 13 March 2025
 
Any news when colonisation and material distribution will be available in colonia, assuming and hoping that is it is fixed in the bubble after Thursdays update.
 
Come on, I think they will turn it back on. 7 days now I think its been off.
Okay ok as we're now negotiating I will consider raising my happiness level by another 20 percent but I will go no higher to avoid disappointment on the chance it doesn't happen lol 40% happiness level is now closed. If this does turn our out to be the point that is turned on they could have replied in a less ambiguous way and still not get too many people's hopes up, but hey I shall remain positive 😉
 
To be fair. I fear losing then next two systems I want to colonize because they are 'named systems' and 'not like' Col 285 sector.

I get that I started out looking for named systems but after jumping around for a few days found a perfect system by accident. Those named systems where bound to be popular, whilst on my travels if I find any interesting ones I'll throw them your way. Remembering my systems name will prove difficult however it's nearly a full line long 🥴 lol

I could see them turning on the colonizer support megaships from the CG. They did say they’d come out a week after its completion (in the original post).

Won’t be so hopeful as to expect they’ll re-enable claims yet unless they were rather quick about that investigation and/or getting a fix in.

ie this update ISNT related to the colonisation pause
or
hopefully this update will allow us to enable colonisation

or even..... we haven't ruled out re enabling colonisation but we are unsure yet it depends how the update goes.

This exactly, don't mind waiting if we have even a vague idea of what's going on. At present Frontier seem determined to keep anything to do with the pause to themselves even to the point they don't even seem to acknowledge any posts enquiring about it. Tbh it's infuriating it's like they have no ability to multitask sometimes, they seem to take two steps forward and then three steps back or in this case 15.99 Light Years back. Come on Frontier just give us a morsel of info I'm sure for the most part Cmdr's will be able to handle it....
 
Nearly at a milestone only ten off (unless anyone posts whilst I'm typing this) five hundred replies and for my part still have no idea what is going on in relation to the Big Pause. Could just be me but the more I think about it the more I just think this update tomorrow is going to bring in the megaships. Will try to remain optimistic but in light of the fact there is no information flowing in this direction it's quite difficult, though Cmdr Wingbacon did instill a little positivity in me so hopefully it lasts lol o7 and out

I personally wouldn’t expect it until they have watched how the fix works for a bit, then they might restart their schedule for expanding the mechanic to locations outside the bubble.

I wouldn't mind a bit of a clue. is that so much to ask.?

Just reread the message from FDev which doesn’t mention anything about an update just that the weekly maintenance will possibly take up to 3 hours due to how busy the architects have been.
Presumably there are 10s of thousands of new facilities to connect and synchronise with the BGS, PP and so on.

To those thinking that the extended maintenance will turn the feature back on... Damn guys, I really do hope you're right, but then why don't they just tell us?

After all, there's no way they can't tell just my posts here, X, Steam and elsewhere, that everyone is eager for it.

Why wouldn't they just say "Tomorrow's maintenance will take longer, because we are planning to turn back on the colonization feature."?

If I'd have to guess, what they are doing tomorrow is a part of the fix and only after implemented, will they decide to turn it back, but not right after.

How do mate Tbh who knows well yeah obviously Fdev do but communication on this topic appears to be Top Secret I'm hoping that it will get turned back on but the more I think about it the less likely I think it is to happen. As you've said purely because they've said nothing about it all in fact to myself it appears that they've been doing they're best to avoid it. As with yourself have posted in various places and I did get one reply on X which basically said when they're is News we will tell you which basically means nothing. So yeah fingers crossed but........
 
Oh well. I experienced these problems too. And since this is a Beta, I am not too troubled or nonplussed about it.

"Number 2" happens to the best of intentions. FD has done worst in some of their Elite Dangerous Upgrades, one in particular required a rollback. This is not going to happen here thank goodness.

I am sure this will be resolved too. In the meantime, I will continue construction of a large primary starport in my claimed system.

BTW, thanks for restoring the materials in lockers on settlements to be looted.
 
I built my outpost to test out the mechanic. it's insanely boring and falls way short of the kind of personalization I'd like to see in what amounts to the closest thing elite's had to base building.


Allow 200ly colonies. Eliminate multi-faction representation in such systems until other systems containing other factions get within 20ly, in which case bgs activtiies will occur between any in range systems and operate as a new mini-bubble.

custom color schemes with station "kit" packs that can be applied to the various types of stations.

Allow 1st station to have its location chosen

Allow System names to be purchased and set by the player.

Allow large pads on outposts only available to the architect.

All stations in the system will address the architect in some unique salutary greeting and automatically give you a landing pad without having to ask once in range.

The architect can set a tax on all goods in the system so long as it isn't an anarchy system

Additional new layout type stations should be added that are unique to player colonized systems.

Allow system architects to create system local news

create a colonization tile on the right hud. put / copy colonization info to this screen. Make each item that's needed able to be clicked to show the nearest systems that export that item (bonus if it filters on if the systems have the required stock) Allow navigation to a selected system directly from this menu using the existing nav route settings.

Allow architect role to be sold auction by the player on a auction page available to all players. Highest bidder by the end of the tick wins. Once put up for auction it can't be retracted. If no bidder wins the user's set min, it remains theirs. The user can set a min of 1 credit up to however much they want.

And for the love of everything that makes a game a game ... Make additional gameplay loops able to contribute to colonization. Add escorting. Add pirating nearby megaships by disabling them and forcing them to transfer all their cargo to the colonization ship...whatever. Anything besides this monotonous repeating space trucking garbage. Even the mindless stare-at-a-rock exobiology mechanic would be less soul sucking than space trucking. The only thing worse would be exploration.

...then it is clear what will excite you the most - the search for Raxxla.
