Why wasn't something done along these lines for the new trailer? It has style and grace, ok it doesn't have shooting, but that could have been put in easily, and best of all, it's real game footage. What the heck happened?!

It would be interesting to see major scale battles around stations with capitol ships and what-not. They have systems with civil wars but yet the stations are always unharmed, I know they have super defenses at the stations but it would make sense to see some action at these stations and to even have stations that have been abandoned or partially destroyed. But I realize this is just me musing about what they showed in the trailer that isn't true to the game. Still an interesting trailer though.

Thinkig about what you said, maybe you're right. This trailer is really targeted at "shooter" population because it only makes sense. What would be the point of trying to show trading, mining or exploration in a 4 min video. People looking for deeper mechanics or immerion will not judge game by the trailer anyways. Ok.

This trailer is an aggressively stupid idea and it baffles me why the Elite team has need for it, but anything beyond that is unfairly pelting the rest of the game by a horrible marketing decision. Mr. Funny Trailer Guy is only a sample of the bottom feeders that will try to get a cheap yuck at whatever baffling decision they can find.

errm Star Citizn shows stuff that actually exists -----and works-------- in engine, realtime

this Elite trailer is render-GFX-stuff that looks nothing like the game, and plays nothing like the gane which is even worse.
dude really bad comparison better keep SC out of it.

besides did anyone notice the suit looks exactly like out of Dead Space ?

LOL! That would be kind of a boring trailer. Every ship putting their throttle into blue and pitch... pitch... pitch... pitch... pitch... in big big circles, over and over :)

FANTASY MMOs which all rip off World of Warcroft/Blizzard trailers from 2003, everyone knows the gameplay doesnt look like this, duh. But for a 2014 space sim game this is misleading sorry, the look is depicted better than it is and also the gameplay is depicted wrong

it´s tradition for fantasy to release bloated rendertrailer, for space sims it´s rather embarrassing

Because the trailer was designed at drawing in people looking for a shooter who won't bother doing any further research. Typical of modern marketing - scams are the norm.

In all seriousness it's just a trailer. Now if they had elves and hobbits in close up shots flying the ships I'd understand the hostility but it's just a souped up rendition of the games combat. Making the game look like a flying bus simulator is far more misleading than the official trailer.

I dont know what some people here have problems with that. You can go on youtube and find for every game such "funny" "joke" videos. Iam a big fan of the arma series and there are a lot of videos with bugs and glichtes on youtube. I never got the idea to be angry because of that. It is just funny.

There's a big difference between a funny glitch and portraying the game in as bad a light as possible. There are videos of glitches in ED too and they too are funny.

On a personal note I dislike and distrust trailers that have "not actual game footage" at the bottom .... Not sure why FD did the original trailer and didn't do a better version of the beta trailers which were a little closer to real gameplay.

As for the parody trailer ... I got a few lols out of it.

I'd guess the marketing company have a lot to do with it. Probably leading with, "We need to show this aspect to make it look exciting and attractive." The marketing company also probably gets a kickback from the studio that made the trailer too. [/cynicism]

Good trailer. Looks like the game I wanted to play....hang on...got to spend another 8 hours trading.
