Elite Dangerous | Type-8 and new pre-built ships

I've noticed you did a little work on the orbital lines.
But there has been a little bit of bleeding over into other parts of the
programs in the game. For instance, inside the cab as you look out into space
you can see ( in this picture ) a ring. This is a bleed over from the Orbital Yellow line.
Also, in the mapping section, there is some bleed over of the orbital lines in there, too.
As A Suggestion:
Maybe if you can change the orbital line, you're looking at a different color.

Engineering Rebalancing

It's not just new ships which have been added with Update 18.08, we also have made some major changes to Engineering!

Materials

We’re increasing the number of materials you’re getting across the board from various sources. We’ve increased Material availability at Grade 4/5 farming locations by increasing the number of sources of materials and in some cases payout per source.
In the past, you’d be get between 3-6 fragments of microresources in total per site, but now we’ve increased the number of items to 30-100 microresources.

Mission Rewards

We’ve increased the engineering mats you’ll get across the board from missions. So now depending on the mission or material limit, you could get up to 24 of some materials.

Engineering Blueprints

1) Engineering is no longer random when you spin for the blueprint. If you’re at grade 5 rank with the Engineer, it will be 1 roll for a Grade 1 blueprint, 2 for a Grade 2, and so on. If you’re less than a Grade 5, it will be more spins, but it will no longer be random.

2) We’ve changed the unlock requirements on some blueprints, so you can get to work much quicker.

Odyssey Engineering Changes

The recipes for Odyssey engineering have had their material amounts reduced, combined with getting more rewards for missions and needing to spend less. Another thing that should make it easier is the rebalancing of suit carry capacity, we’ve increased capacity across all suits, with the Maverick suit seeing the biggest upgrade. For a more in depth breakdown please check out the Update notes.

Thargoid War Changes

As we get closer and closer to the potential end of the war, we’re making some adjustments to give you even more Engineering rewards for engaging. Contributing to taking over a Thargoid controlled, or invasion system will now reward engineering materials upon system completion.

All Grade 4 Raw & Grade 5 Encoded/Manufactured engineering materials are eligible as rewards, which you can trade down to whatever materials you need at a material trader. A full break down can be found in our Update Notes.
These changes are really something, that's the way to do it

Just a question for those who own the ship kit, are the small front winglets tied to the use of the bracing(?) above the cockpit or are these separate parts ?

Odyssey owner can fly Python Mk2 on Horizon client. So, it's also available in Horizon (live). But Horizon (live) only owners can't buy Python Mk2 and there's no explanation about. it.

Horizons owners only get access to the new ships if they "unlock" them with Arx... (as stated by FD right from the beginning...)
So it might be a good decision to consider buying Odyssey maybe on a sale, even if you're only interested in those new ships...

Ymmv though...

Consoles have EDH ( this was the base game for Elite before EDO) . I know it's just a naming convention and even Fdev failed at that but it's a thing for consoles. So it's EDO and 4.0 ( EDO lite) have access to new ships etc.

Well... as @Simon 76 stated this twice with his "...(live) " suffixes I didn't feel the need to include the obvious in my response to his question...

Ok. Let me make this more clear.
Currently, the base game is ED:BEYOND but it's just called as "Horizons" and which is different from legacy Horizons.
The base game gets updated.
And ED:ODYSSEY is defined as a DLC by FDEV.
So, this Type-8 is update is for what? a base game update or DLC update?
If it's a DLC update, why ED:ODYSSEY players can fly Python Mk2 in ED:BEOYND? and FDEV should mention this update is for DLC but they didn't.
So, it should be the base update. But, why base game only owners can't buy Python Mk2?
What is this situation?

As said before in general the client 4.0 (live) is capable of "handling" the new ships, so you can see the new ships flying around there.

Odyssey owners can get the new ships via early access for Arx or "just" wait 3 months to buy the new ships for credits on "full" release...

Non Odyssey owners can't get the ships, only via unlocking them for Arx, during the early access stage and also after "full" release (obtainable for credits).

So there's no way for a non Odyssey owner to get access to these ships without paying Arx. Except, buying Odyssey which is much cheaper if you're interested in more than one of the ships...

There is a important thing that could explain this decision.

Russian players can't buy Odyssey, we already had 1 player banned here for using a card from other player and country to buy the game, avoiding the international sanctions.
FDev give the option to buy this ships with ARX, that Russian players had from the weekly Live 400Arx (+400Arx from Legacy), without breaking the laws. No bank involved.
Its a lifeline for Russian players until a change in the laws.

This is the only type of player that will exchange ARX instead buying Odyssey, because they lack the option to buy Odyssey (or buy ARX, or anything with real money).

For the rest of players, FDev want to move everybody to Odyssey. Took some years to have the exclusive Odyssey gameplay like thargoid Spires, and now the new 4 ships, players could ignore Onfoot content, but not this new upgrades.

This is nothing new. The Alliance Chieftain, Challenger and Crusader, along with the Beluga and Dolphin were only in the game if you bought Horizons. Base game players at the time couldn't use them. It's just how they do things it seems.

This time is different, Live horizons player can pay ARX.
Russian console players can request a free transfer, obtain the game, buy this ships with ARX stored.... everything can be done without credit cards. Nobody its left behind if they hay a pc.

You can get 384t with size 4 shields and ADC/SCA or 390t with shields and without any flight assists. the missing 8t or the missing 2t is what is ruining your joy?
No

My point is that it has very little to no better use case than the Python...

I forgot about the Rackam's Peak booze cruise... so I guess there are a few advantages

Just a question for those who own the ship kit, are the small front winglets tied to the use of the bracing(?) above the cockpit or are these separate parts ?

Separate parts, if I understand the question.

In the ship kit with the Stellar version of Type-8, there's two parts each for "wings" "bumpers" and "tail" (iirc) and parts for any of the three locations can be chosen (or not) independently of the other locations.

@Nowski Thanks for your answer as it confirms my little concern about the shipkit having only three possible mounting positions.
My question was about the "bumper" position then, where you can mount the small winglets + the part above the cockpit from one of the two sets.
Btw the one above the cockpit is the part that I meant with "bracing". Couldn't find another term for it... 🤷‍♂️

You get 2 bumper parts with the kit, one has that bracing part above the cockpit, the other doesn't. So you can have winglets without bracing, but not vice versa.

Because perfect is boring? I'm loving my Type-8 so far, but then I'm not trying to min/max it either. I tried doing "perfect" builds early in my career and quickly got frustrated because the game isn't set up for it, as you're also finding.

It's more about making it work than finding perfection. Once I realised that, I loosened up and started building for fun and thematics, rather than mechanics, and haven't been frustrated by any ship since, even the "bad ones" like the Type-7 and Asp Scout.
I agree entirely with the rest of your post, but have my blinkers firmly in place and will not hear a bad word said about the Asp Scout. I love it, long range exploring in an Asp Scout is one of life's simplest pleasures.

(Sorry, was off topic - absolutely love the new updates, and really really love the T8, my new go to outpost trader! o7)
