Elite Dangerous Update 14 Release Schedule

Computer screens produce a lot blue light which results in eye fatigue. Orange graphics helps reduce that wear on your eyes and orange lens glasses helps even further.
I have failed to find any evidence that this is a fact - indeed fines have been imposed on companies advertising blue-blocking lenses to protect the eyes.
While increased blue light could cause changes to your circadian rhythm, and very short wavelengths may cause damage, I find it exceedingly difficult to find any evidence that would suggest that using an orange font would make a blind (see that I did there?) bit of difference!

I'm not sure that's entirely true - there's so many previously scanned planets, the conditions for the higher-payout ones are fairly well known, and exobiology is slow enough per-planet that 18 months after release you can still get first discoveries of plants within the inhabited Colonia region. It wouldn't be the same road for everyone, but "pick a random star and give me all the candidates for expensive plants within 50 LY" should be a fairly easy thing for someone to build if they wanted to.
I'm finding plenty of new Exobiology around populated Systems (this includes First Footfalls as well). Perhaps not in the bubble now but certainly nearby to one's in and toward Guardian space, like Seeker's Rest. That's only 100+ ly away from the edge of the bubble.

Greetings Commanders,

We're on the brink of a big day ahead - Update 14 is incoming and imminent for release tomorrow, November 29.

Here's a hopefully useful guide to the release schedule for you today, so you can make adequate preparations ahead of time, or just generally get warmed up to share the big moment together.

TUESDAY 29th NOVEMBER, UPDATE 14 RELEASE SCHEDULE (All times below in UTC)
  • 5:00 - In game broadcasting of 'server downtime warning'.
  • 7:00 - Both Horizons only and Odyssey Servers go down (update notes released via web and 'Release Tracker' style forum thread at around this time).
  • 15:00 - Servers return. Update 14 Deployment will be live.
DOWNLOAD SIZE INFORMATION (UPDATE 14 ONLY):
  • (3.8) Horizons Only Update 14 : 164.7 MB
  • (4.0) Odyssey Update 14 : 4.8 GB
Total combined update size : 4.9 GB (Updates combined only. ONLY if you have already installed the full 4.0 game client in advance).

IMPORTANT NOTE: If you have not installed a full download of the Odyssey (4.0) game client in advance of tomorrow's update 14 deployment, the client itself, minus the update 14 download size, is around the 50 GB mark. You may wish to do this prior to Update 14 release if you have yet to do so.

UPDATE NOTES:
Full update notes will be shared tomorrow, just ahead of or alongside server downtime.

Again, appreciate it's an early start for the UTC club BUT do watch out for the Release Tracker thread and update notes around 7:00. Pour a coffee.
Then pour another one.

Occurred to me that we're at the half-way point of the patch window - things going to plan so far?

Little bit disapointed with this update , main items , AX weapons improved damage , increase biological samples and multi-crew payout fixes .
The rest stability and tearing up the community even further with the live and legacy modes ,.
No mention of the new engineering .

I would rather have seen some new ships and one ship in particular that should have been in game for a long long time already , The Panther Clipper LX .

We still don't know the full amount of new content in the patch. What we know is the tech side and in that front it seems a bit disapointing. But let's wait and see the new contents when it's released in a couple of hours.

In the patch notes i read no fixes for VR. Still, VR need to be fixed since launch. I'm not talking about the flatscreen when on foot, i mean the simple fixes like the shipyard, the missing shadows, and many other simpler problems. Why is that? Can someone from Frontier answer this? I get that we can pactically forget about VR on foot, but VR on ship was a -brilliant- feature of elite dangerous and that was part of the product we bought. We need VR - AT LEAST ON SHIP - to be funcioning properly.

Ouch, that's going to smart.
Reminds me of a tale from when I was still an apprentice, a factory near us made boilers and heat exchangers for power stations big heavy stuff. Well a big casting got dropped and missed this blokes steel toecaps by a fraction unfortunately the rest of him was underneath the casting.

I suspect some type of Guardian / Thargoid hybrid stuff is coming, I think the Grelic was the first clue. The attempt to use the guardian mega weapon backfired and now the S is about to hit the fan.
