Elite Dangerous | Update 18.05 | Thursday 16 May 2024

What exactly is this supposed to accomplish? (Also, do players still not start in the starting district?)
Ody players start at Chamberlain's Rest and get ganked on exit regularly, within the no fire zone, even. The system is under Archon Delaine in Powerplay, and Rating 5 players do not get bounties in Archon powerplay systems, so they can just sit there and frag the newbs with impunity.

OTOH that sure was a valuable lesson in getting familiar with the play modes, even if it was kinda forced on them. Now it will just happen after the first jump, the starting district was a better idea and should be re-instituted IMHO.

I don't disagree that it will make them familiar with the modes, but I think a lot of PvE centric and PvP avoidant players are going to get into that situation, get blown up, and go "who designs a game where end game players can sit in the starter system and blast away at newbs?". It gives a very rough first impression of Elite, especially when Elite is basically a theme park single player game with theme park multiplayer elements attached on, and PvP exists on the periphery with no real sustainable in game mechanics. And, those are the types of players this game seems to primarily attract. (not a bad thing, just an observation).

It reads like a headline right from Jita in Eve Online, expect at least Eve has profitable PvP.

And my answer would be: "Frontier Developments. Welcome to Elite Dangerous, watch out for many such attractions!"

Long down-time...

Hidden features? Tin foil hat on? :D
Whilst I do appreciate your endorsement for my new line of 'Thin Metallic Psionic Defence Caps' (Available now at all imaginary retailers) the downtime is an estimated frame to ensure we can do any checks that need to be done. There is every chance the update may be available sooner if the stars align or it could take longer if the server cyberhamster forgot to recharge its batteries.

The annexing of HIP 97950 by Archon Delaine was a lovely piece of cooperative gameplay between a number of different player groups (all executed in open). It was loss making for Deliane CC but gave us a nice little strategic win. It also encouraged a few more players into powerplay (regardless of their motives).

The application of Kumo power in this system didn't initiate ganking in this system and wasn't particularly a catalyst. It's given it a bit more "headline power". But realistically the number of players that spend time gaining rank 5 status for ganking there is incredibly low. And the penalties for doing so without that rank were and remain very low anyway. It's a low security system already and Chamberlain's Rest itself has very poor no fire zone mechanics.

Kumo power there makes the whole situation more ridiculous but wasn't the problem in the first place.

'nuff said!

It was more an exercise of gameplay stretching :p (ganking was already a thing there, we just added another layer on it).

Everything I said was accurate.

But you would say that, wouldn't you? narrows eyes

Its blatantly obvious that you know we know you know that we know stuff is going on. I mean, T-8 - Thargoid 8, the Titans, 'cyberhamsters' (Guardians)- the P2s (Powerplay 2 and Python 2) all coming out.....

If you could please take a look at the ax Taipan, NPCs controlling it will not fire. I believe the problem is, a while back they added code to prevent NPCs from firing human weapons uselessly at thargoids, and unfortunately the ax taipans weapons were included.

Unfortunately, it is also the only fighter that doesn't blow up in short order inside the Maelstrom, and given the large preponderance of Scouts in the area, it would be really nice to have it as an option.

The reason I do not report this on the issue tracker is because it is impossible to get enough people reporting the same thing at the same time to get an issue confirmed unless it is literally game breaking.

I will also post this on Facebook and twitter, so hopefully it gets through somewhere.

So are the guardian fighters gonna get any buff in the future?
Right now the Thargoids believe guardians are back and instantly lock on them with all their abilities. Guardian Fighters don't even have any countermeasures to stand a chance.

What's the issue? Does it affect the T.16000M?

simply FD have broken the button combos on all keys so for example holding B+hat up (or whatever landing gear is) will boost then deploy landing gear. been like this for over a month now and total radio silence from frontier.

you can check to see if anyone with your model is affected on any of these issue trackers:
