Fiction Elite Encounters: The Elite Dangerous RPG

something new with this project?

Always! Regular updates are posted on Kickstarter and on the official website. Check them both out at the URLs below:

I usually try and update at the end of the month, but last month I didn't manage to get an update up for a couple of weeks after the due date. Another update is in the works.

Hi everyone,

I support of Mahddogg's awesome Terry Pratchett Memorial charity drive and in support of the Alzheimer's Society I'll be making a pilgrimage to Pratchett's Disk on the 18th April, flying my Cobra from Morten-Marte to whatever system the Disk is in.

I'll be streaming it live on twitch (twitch.tv/selezen) and hopefully doing some giveaways (if I can obtain stuff to give away) including a couple of PDF copies of the Elite Encounters RPG.

I'll be making the trip in a private group, so if you want to join me please join the "Selezen Lake" group in-game.

All the info can be found here: http://daftworks.co.uk/eliterpg/index.php/The_Pilgrimage

Everything kicks off at 12pm BST. Hope to see you there!

I've also posted this in Mahddogg's thread here: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=128166

Hi Dave,
I assume that the daftworks.co.uk website being down right now is a temporary glitch? I hope so, I was just passing by to see if you'd posted any updates recently so I don't know how long it's been like this.
Cheers :)

EDIT: Yes, as reported on his twitter feed.

For those interested and following this thread...

The second draft has gone to and been returned by Frontier. Elite Encounters is drawing ever nearer to publication :)

Hey everyone. Wow. It's been a while. The frontier forums scare me, so I haven't been around much, apologies.

If you want more regular information about the EE RPG, please subscribe to me on Twittter or Facebook, where I'm MUCH more interactive. hdSelezen on Twitter and Selezen Lake on Facebook.

Anyway, enough self publicity. I wanted to happily announce that the final draft is IN with Frontier for approval, and they have kindly allowed me to go ahead with launching pre-orders for the ebooks.

You can order your copy at the Daftworks Store: daftworks.co.uk/store

You can read all about the final release and get a discount code at the main Elite Encounters RPG site at daftworks.co.uk/eliterpg

Thanks for waiting this long, and hopefully, with the Blessing of the Braben, we're almost there.

:)

Hi Selezen,
Thanks for the update, good to hear from you on here. I know I'd get a quicker answer if I contacted you by Twitter, but I can wait and you answer here may be useful other too:

What about printed copies? I see your website says print-on-demand was offered as part of the kickstarter, so what about for jonny-come-latelies like me? :D

Cheers :)

Wow, coupon already expired, that really was limited time only! Ah well, I'm late again...

I caught up with your recent blogs Selezen, following your highs and lows. I'm really looking forward to all the material you wrote that you were allowed to keep in, but it's a huge shame you had to drop the GalCop stuff, I know you produced a lot of material for them over the years. I hope FDev didn't get cold feet about them because of the rise of the completely unrelated but same-named player group, that would be a bigger shame.

However, despite all the material you had to cut, I noticed a section on your website called "non-canon content" - I'll be keeping my eye on that ;)

Just a quick missive here!

The Kickstarter PDF copies have been distributed, and the original Pre-order stuff has been fulfilled. The store pre-orders will be coming down soon, because as I type I'm prepping to fully release the book for download on the Daftworks Store!!

SO if you want a pre-order copy, get your to daftworks.co.uk/store and get it done!

OK another quick Update - the store has been updated and the PDF download is now LIVE!

Stop by daftworks.co.uk/store to buy a copy. If you want. No pressure. Up to you.

;-)

Got it! :D

At first glance it looks great, jam-packed with Elite lore and imagination from a true enthusiast. Well done Dave :) [up]

Edit:
Wow! When you said that loads had been cut from the book I braced myself for it to be really thin on background, but you've got loads of material still there! The history section is what people have been asking for for years, so I'm really pleased to see it there.

Seriously, well done on persevering. After all the lows, set-backs, etc, you finally made it, so enjoy the up and hold it there as long as you can, you've earned it.

Cheers :)

Edit again:

It's brilliant. I want a hard copy. Hardback? [yesnod]

Argh! What do you mean AAAI no longer produce spacecraft?! PLEASE let them start production again! Saker MkIV? Stowmaster MkII ship launched fighter? Quest MkII explorer craft?

FDev, I know you're reading this thread (esp Mr M Brookes), you know it makes sense to bring back AAAI. Do it [yesnod]

Well, I skim read. It's a great book in its own right, lots of great material on the background of ED. As a game I expect it to be great too, and because it's pen and paper, it will probably out-live the computer game too! :D

And don't forget to check out the Vehicle Combat System Rules. I hear they're quite good. :p

Thank you for the review, madbilly - I'm happy you like it!

Now that I've put the AAAI information on paper, if Frontier change their position on it, it makes the book wrong. So please, Frontier, DON'T change it!! ;-)

Otherwise, WELL SAID!

I did wonder about that, how much of what gets written in official fiction fixes things "in stone" so how reluctant FDev are to allow authors to be creative. But then I think that there's so much more background detail that can be put in books than in the game that it probably doesn't matter in the case of pure reasons for things and in the case of history, well, it marches on - who's to say that AAAI won't build a new factory in the future. Then your book would need an update, which isn't an issue for the books that are stories, but is an issue for your RPG where you want the scene setting to be consistent between the computer game and RPG universes.

Hmmm :S
