Engineered AX Weapons for Everyone!

So now we have a Class 2 Plasma Charger that is just better than the Class 3 Plasma Charger. Lol. I don't really care about the velocity, how one can miss Interceptors with Plasma is beyond me, but better damage and armor piercing? RIP Class 3.

How are those updates plasmas against hoomans? Seems like it could be a good all rounder?

Also … how do I get ‘em? 🤗

Need guardian weapon blueprint to get one?

You need a Guardian weapon blueprint for each weapon you want (plus other bits)
Modified Plasma charger requires

Size 2
3 guardian power conduit
3 Guardian Sentinel weapon parts.
2 Arsenic
1 weapon blueprint.
1 power transfer bus

Size 1
2 guardian powercell.
2 Guardian technology component (This is the reason for more expensive)
1 guardian weapon blueprint
1 Arsenic
Based on stats, I'd say it ought to be a fairly solid all rounder. I'm one-shotting scouts at 1000m pretty reliably (so faster shot speed is definitely making a difference).

Modified 2C Plasma Charger should do something like 5 x 17 x 1.66% x 50% (Absolute) = 70 damage on a full charge vs.
Efficient 2C Plasma Accelerator does something like 67 split 60% Absolute / 20 Thermal & Kinetic. After resistances that should be noticeably less than the PC.

They're power hunger, but relatively cool and ammo efficient.

Thanks for the information, people. I'll see if I can get myself a couple of the plasma chargers, as they seem to be good alternatives to the plasma accelerators. :)

EDIT: Bought four of the 2B ones, should be enough.

That's more than double damage on anything above Cyclops compared to regular plasma chargers. The shot speed makes it significantly easier to aim and since it is fire on release and not a delay as for gauss cannons some may find it easier to use. I assume that the range values are left unchanged (1000/3000 m for falloff start and max range), which means quite some penalty for not keeping within 1000 m rather than the 1500 m of gauss. Also remains to be seen how they are for sniping hearts.
Correct: Stats for the 2B Guardian Plasma Charger that can be bought at Merope:

Distributor draw: 1.25 MW
Thermal Load: 7.8
Amour Piercing: 110
Maximum Range: 3,000 M
Shot Speed: 6,000 M/S
Rate of fire: 5.0 /s
Ammo clip size: 20
Ammo maximum: 200
Reload time: 3.0 s
Breach damage: 1.1
Min breach chance: 50%

Thanks! Dunno how I missed that … looks like I’ll be hitting the Guardian sites again soon!

There seems to be a bug with premium ammo on the hammer gauss cannons. Instead of increasing the damage by 30%, it seems to increase damage by 120%, ie, 30% of the (unintended) damage they had on release ...
@sallymorganmoore Something to investigate?

Another 'Do'h!' moment for me. I travelled to Bright Sentinel yesterday and saw no Guardian weapons in Outfitting. It's onl y hit me now that I should have clicked 'Contacts', and 'Guardian Broker'...

Could be worse... How many times I've gone looking for Guardian Shield Reinforcement modules.... Not thinking to look in Hull Reinforcements...
(Funnier as on 1 account they weren't unlocked... That was embarrasing!)

Well, I'm back now, and it turns out I need articulation motors.

Hey, I don't remember that wreckage last time. Several Imperial ships, including two of those big... what do they call them? Interceptors? Interlocuters? Floating in some kind of green mist...

Interdictors, probably? The green mist sounds like Thargoid corrosive effects.

Just purchased 2 modified 2b Plasma chargers and 2 modified 2b Gauss Canons from Salvation. Installed them on ship tested ok.
Docked at my carrier and stored them and swapped ship.
Went off to kill Thargoid and returned to Carrier, tried to install the 2 chargers and gauss but they not in storage only 1 plasma charger.
I am missing 1 AX turret, 2 modified gauss cannons and 1 modified plasma charger.

Yep, the Interdictor.

Damn, I just wasted the last bit of cartography from the journey from Colonia. Should've sold it off before poking flotsam Thargoids wanted. Merope seems to be heating up, with scouts and various 'unknown' (I'm not investing in a Xeno scanner).

It's pretty easy to snipe hearts with the new plasma chargers, as long as you can target the module (i.e. you have a Xeno scanner).

Also it's a pretty interesting weapon against human ships as well (it's more like a new variant of SRB rails than PA's).

So far it seems to be a funny and somewhat viable weapon both in AX and in PvP, but it's not better than regular Gauss cannons or SRB rails.

I really like the heat output. The few times I've used it in battle I've never overheated. I'm going to attempt to use a thermal vent turreted beam to see if its possible to maintain a low heat while firing.

My meta shall dawn at last.

RIP my Distributor :(

I'm on my way to grab a full compliment of the modified Plasma Chargers and Gauss Cannons in both sizes. Can't wait to test them out - I've been waiting for the Plasma Charger to be a viable weapon for years.

LOL don't expect to be able to do much with plasma chargers on that ship in PvP.
Even if the power plant and the distro could handle them (I'm not sure), that ship won't really be good at the necessary range control (these are short range weapons).
And even though these modified plasma chargers are not entirely bad (and their visual effect is really awesome), they still seem to be pretty much off meta.
