Question : How does the population of an adopted system affect this mechanic? What would be the advantage/disadvantage of choosing a small population system over a large one?

Hi Zac

Are faction "reputation" based perks in mind for the future?

If I get my reputation within a Player/NPC faction up to a certain percentage (or I get that faction's reputation up to a certain percentage), can perks trigger? For example, certain factions could permit a 10% discount on ships to faction members in its controlled systems, or a 10% bonus to bounties handed in, or a 10% bonus to trade/exploration/mining profits

Basically, similar perks to the power play powers, just on a smaller scale with minor factions. Thanks for any information you can supply

Can a player faction be wiped off the face of the Galaxy?
Is there any protection for player factions if so?
Is there a minimal influence level which would cause this?

Hey Zac when choosing a home-world system for our faction do we have to pick a system with the same government type as we intend to be. Ie ToC will be choosing the anarchy government type, does this mean we are restricted to choosing a system that is currently ruled by an anarchy government?

Are there any restrictions that will affect our choice of system such as population size, economy type etc taking into account that we are choosing anarchy as a government type.

You should aim to have a government type that matches/compliments that of your chosen faction. :)

Hi Zac, I think what Subsynk is asking is when selecting a home system does it need to currently have a government that matches our desires or will FDev change a system to suit our proposal?

Secondly, I'm really concerned that a chosen system will simply get gobbled up into PP and lets face it theres not much space left in the bubble thats far away from the powers. You say that freedom fighters option is not in the near future but its absolutely vital as a mechanic if you want this to work, We simply HAVE to have a way to counter power expansion into the system which could be done with no way to stop it.

Supposedly there will be no more station building or colonization CG's. Can you help the community understand why, and if this is temporary or permanent for the near future?

And you mention, improving the system as an example of a CG. If station building is not allowed anymore, then does this mean upgrading existing stations is on the table? Terraforming?

I think I have seen some players already settling into Hyperion! And please tell me the god worshipped at this church is Spode!
Yeah, there's definitely a group there already. If you go to the system, which in terms of stations is pretty dinky, one of the minor factions is sitting at 98% influence. Haven't heard of that happening without a group actively supporting them.

It was actually a reference to the Hyperion Cantos by Dan Simmons. The Shrike Cult worships one of the inhabitants of Hyperion as a god. Incredible series. It would be fun to have them as a minor faction in game, but I don't have the time to start a group just for the express purpose of creating the faction, and then having to battle for turf. Ah well...

Quick question regarding the naming conventions. Since the localisation of minor faction names was introduced, ie. Gold Vision Company became Eta Draconis Gold Vision Company, will newly created group names require the initial 'home' system to be added to its name, or is this something as player groups we can forego?

Can anyone see the interest in player factions ebbing in the future ? there will be a main hardcore of groups but a lot will simply dissapear as players move on or change their game style.
With this in mind will there be a cleansing of player factions on a regular basis or will they lay dormant if players do nothing with them ?

The Bacon Cats are coming to a system near you soon .......

One of my top ten SF books. An amazing, imaginative ride. Its part of a series called The Hyperion Cantos. A half AI/half clone of John Keats is the protagonist.
SyFy in the States are producing a series: http://arstechnica.com/the-multiver...film-dan-simmons-hyperion-as-an-event-series/

So crossing my fingers for this one, and crossing my toes that they don't mess it up. Probably one of my favourite sci-fi series ever.

Is it possible to create a new faction in a system that requires a permit? Are these systems reserved?
I really cant see that happening. You would start off with no external stations, so no permits could be gained until (if) you expanded. Thats not really fair on the rest of the player base, let alone a bit of an exploit (if used as a defence mechanism). Thats ignoring the fact that most permits have a lore reason associated with the existing controlling faction

Having read the Q&As in this thread I see that selecting a system in the bubble is better for your faction's expansion.

But what are the benefits of choosing a system outside the bubble for your player faction?

Maybe even very far outside the bubble. Are these systems more stable because their populations are low? Would
a faction out on the frontier be less prone to take over, particularly from hostile player factions? I assume that the
distance to other hostile factions is a factor in keeping a faction safe.
