Establish your own Minor Faction and FAQ

I have a question for frontier.

our group is a community that plays a pve game with over 11,300 members, everyone that plays in the Mobius group use it as an environment to play in and as such our group is an alternative to the all group.
as there are many other groups that play within our group, can these smaller groups still register a player faction?.

I imagine that this question could be unique to our group as other groups that have been created all have their own goals and mission statement , while our group is an environment to play in.

Question concerning private group for the new factions:
Is a private group automatically created for each player faction with an appropriate name?
If yes:
- who will manage entries and exits for those groups?
- can a CMDR be part of more than one private group for player factions?

Hi Abacus,

I'm attempting to answer your questions first to take a little of the load of Zac, but mostly to check that my understanding is correct.

1). A player faction is not automatically created. Soon groups that wish to adopted an existing faction in game need to select
that faction soon. Those wanting to create a new group have a little more time, and also need to find a system where it
will be based.

2). The player faction doesn't have a members list. Everyone can interact to support or hinder that faction just like the NPC factions.
But a player faction does allow the group to build more of a story in the game and inject some events.

3). Player factions are not like the Powers. Therefore a Cmdr work for as many player factions (and NPC factions) as they have
time for in game.

I hope this is right and all Zac has to do is confirm it.

1) I assume you will publish a full list of affected systems as and when a new player-group-minor-faction (PGMF) is added to the servers?

2) How will a PGMF be flagged in system view to differentiate it from a normal NPC minor faction (NPCMF) in game? (The list is already quite extensive I see!)

3) I trust you will add a galaxy map marker (like stored ship/mission/target/friend here) to indicate a PGMF is located within a particular system?

4) Are rarer black-market outposts/stations included or excluded for takeover by PGMFs?

I fully expect a few of these new PGMFs to try and enforce their own version of 'permits' and restrict/control access to their newly aquired outposts/stations to the detriment of unwitting regular passers-by who may have been using that system for months.

I for one wish to be pre-warned of a newly active PGMF there (or lurking in the system next door) before I arrive by FSD laden with goodies or during a rush to acquire BB mission necessities!

Thanks in advance Zac.

Possible a Dumb question but

How will the 5 minor factions per system effect or be factored in to the ability for these new PGMFs to expand?

Our system we are looking at hoping to have our PGMF in already has 5 Minor Factions, due to creating a new one rather than adopting our current one going forward, and if all the near by system already have 5 Minor factions due to previous expansions will that mean there will be no opportunity for expansion by the PGMF?

Hope that makes sense

Important question...

¿Is it possible to put a faction of the Federation within a station where there is already a faction of the Empire or the Alliance? Or vice versa.

There can be more than 5 factions per system. I've personally seen systems with 6 factions, and recently someone posted proof of 7 factions: http://m.imgur.com/mTETPMP

I have a question about "adopting" existing faction.

We already support an independent minor faction, what would be the pros/cons of registering it as player owned? We don't plan do become superpower, we don't participate in Powerplay.

What new features will we have access to? And will be there any constraints?

I've sent my email last friday with all informations.
Three question :
When will you tell us if the system and the name of the sub-faction are OK or not ?
If the system is already selected by another player, can you say it quickly to us for choose another one?
What's the next step?

I hate to say, but I don't get any of this at all. Instead of giving someone the burden of spoon-feeding me an Elite Dangerous: Political Sciences 101, could you show me a filled out form using an existing NPC information near LHS 3447 if that's possible? Maybe I can glean something from that.

Does it work on private/solo groups ?

You will be able to create a group in the galaxy...it will be seen across the modes just like any other faction...and anyone can help or hinder it from any mode available.

Good questions! To be honest, doing this will bring up a 'guild vs no guild' discussion. It makes more sense that player groups would get no more or less acknowledgement than those that have been fostering the growth of existing minor factions. However, you will probably have a lot of support from groups wishing to be tagged and seen as a group within the game!

Will we know if our faction has been approved or not? I sent the email in when this was first posted, and I have yet to get a response. I'm not concerned, and I can wait, I'm just curious as to how I will know. Will we get an email reply? Etc.

Hey Zac,

Great work from all at frontier on making a top class game and also this move to include the community more.

We're listed on teh player groups thread (although we haven't received an email confirmation our player group is listed there) We haven't listed a faction support on there at all, I'm just wondering what we'd need to do (apart from send in the information on the first post *done*) and when we might be hearing back on the subject if minor factions and when we might see them in game.

As ever, loving your work
