Europe & North America Done?

As the title suggests, I made this thread because I’m interested to know what the community’s thoughts are on the current rosters for North America and Europe, and how they compare to other continents.

Thanks to the recent Fall DLC and 3rd Anniversary Update, both continents have seen some major growth in their rosters. Additionally, both continents have been fleshed out through previous years’ DLC quite well, with the Arctic Pack, NA Animal Pack, and Europe Pack to show for this. All this said, where should Frontier’s priorities be continent-wise now? How would you rank the continents in order of importance for future DLC additions? Also, what do you feel is the most likely decision you see Frontier taking, your own feelings aside?

Personally I don't want North America to be done, I guess it all depends on how many more DLC's we will get in the future. But I do think we need a break from North America and Europe. As far as the continent that needs the most love? Hands down South America. Oceania is a strong second however. I just think in terms of real life zoos and South America's incredible biodiversity, it is the most unrepresented continent in that regard, even though Oceania has less animals.

I really strongly want to see the American black bear still. I think it's pretty essential as a North American species. Beyond it, I'm perfectly content with what we've got as of the Twilight Pack. The NA river otter and white-tailed deer would be nice, but I'm fine using the ASCO and fallow deer as substitutes.

For Europe, I'd personally like to see the wild boar but beyond that I don't have much vested interest in European species. The boar is the only European species not also native to North America that has a semi-notable presence in North American zoos that we haven't gotten already. But since I'm not European, I don't think my opinion should hold too much weight on this matter specifically.

Imo the priorities should clearly be to finally get australia across the 10 animal mark and to give south america a bit more focus.
BUT on the same time europe still belongs to the continents that need more fleshing out.
While NA north of mexico is mostly fine by now with the most notable exclusions of the ABB, the white tailed deer and the NA porcupine as another very unique and different animal, europe doesnt even have its basics coverd.
For the basic basics we still need the wild boar, its the last wild park staple and would be a very different animal for europe.
But even then we might have a decent to good coverage of european temperate forests (with the notable exception of an arboreal animal), it would still just be very basic.
The only fluff animal we have so far for europe is the badger, which imo is a shame.
We should have much more then just the basics and some more weird picks just for fun like the red squirrel or an oystercatcher to compliment the grey seal.
We also got pretty much no biome doversity with only the reindeer, arctic fox, grey seal, greater flamingo and alpine ibex not being forest animals, allmost all of them being one offs from their biomes besides the arctic fox abd reindeer.
If we live in a dream world, all of them would get 1 or 2 additional animals so that we would actually be able to build subsections for them, like the oystercatcher for the seal, alpine marmot and chamois for the ibex (bearded vulture and golden eagle as well once weve got aviaries in the game) and maybe a crested porcupine, common gennet or golden jackal to represent the mediteranian.
We also are in a dire need for birds and europe is packed with diverse and iconic ones with 3 that practically need to be innthe game with the white stork, mute swan and mallard as super diverse and flexible waterfowl/wading birds, but also the western capercaillie and rock ptarmigan (god i hate this world, so hard to remember. The german alps snow chicken is so much easier to not forget) could add alot to their far ranges, not to mention all the different geese that live in europe.
So yeah, while SA and austealia definitly should take priority for now and i hope that we will get either a tropical, desert or island pack soon which all could greatly favor both of these continents, but i really hope that its not the end for europe, as the roster rn is just bare bones and boring.
Im happy about every animal we get, but while europe by now is passable, its still far away from great

For both North America and Europe all the animals I ever felt a strong need for have been in the game for a little while now (bison, fallow deer, alligator, gila monster and rattlesnake), but I’m hardly the person to judge what makes either continent “complete” given I come from a part of the world where species from NA and Europe are exceedingly rare in zoos. However, I do think that, while North America could still have a species or two added, Europe is definitely the continent that needs more attention out of the two. While it’s approaching rudimentary representation, it has very little beyond that - it’s quite similar to Australia in that regard.

Still, when it comes to personal priority, Europe still isn’t particularly high for the reason listed above (just aren’t really a part of zoos I’m familiar with). South America and Oceania share priority for me - SA needs more species but the missing Australian/Oceanian animals are much more important for me personally and the types of zoos I usually build. My ranking would go something like this:

South America + Oceania > Africa > Asia > Europe > North America > Antarctica

Africa being so high may seem odd but I feel like it’s been relatively ignored in DLC so far compared to Asia and North America and that it still has a ton of potential.

My takes:
  • Europe is in an acceptable state, but there are some species that would flesh it out further:
    • The european mink: it is critically endagered, and a semiaquatic small animal that would, to me, be more interesting than another otter
    • The boar as the last remaining staple for Wildparks
    • The crested porcupine for the mediterranean, which would also bolster the north african roster
    • Birds would give it the finishing touch: a potential pelican or cormorant, bearded vulture and golden eagle, potentially an owl, european bee-eater - however, most of these are speculation (yet)
  • NA is situated even better, and I don't think there are that many species left I would deem really relevant for the game
    • The ABB is quite popular, but I personally don't see a large need for it
    • The North american porcupine would be interesting, but I'd favour the crested porcupine instead
    • The american deserts on the other hand could be bolstered by the collared pecarry, but I also wouln't mind the Chacoan peccary for South America because of it's conservation value
    • The desert bighorn could be interesting, but might look to similar to the Dall sheep, and the barbary sheep might be a better alternative for a desert-dwelling goat
    • Both white-tailed deer and Rocky mountain elk are, in my mind, too similar to the Fallow deer and Red deer to justify their inclusion
  • Finally, there are some arctic/subarctic animals that could benefit both continents
    • The wolverine
    • The musk ox
To sum up, there are indeed some species left that I would consider interesting, more for europe than North America, with the crested porcupine, wolverine and musk ox being the most useful due to their wide ranges.
Still, oceania and expecially South america are more urgent to me.

I don't think it finish like there is more cool animals that would be very nice to have in the game but what yea I hope we will get break from NA and europe in the 1 - 2 dlcs like I hope the next dlcs will focus mostly on oceania and south america those two continents kind of lack in the game. more african animals It's also would be nice like of to get the ACP and more great animals so those three continents we need right now more! I know africa is really good represented but for me IT'S NOT represented if we don't get the african crested porcupine hehehe

I would love to get the crested porcupine.
Wild boar would be nice, too.

For NA: The oppossum would be lovely :D I have to admit I haven't seen it in a zoo, other than the raccoon which is such a staple in European zoos... I think oppossums are super cute. However, they would complete the skunk/raccoon trinity.

American black bear, well ... maybe as an anniversary animal. I don't want it in a payed DLC because we already have a black bear, plus five other bears (himalayan, Grizzly, polar bear, sun bear and panda ...).

I think there could be more. The determining factor is the pack itself and does the animal fit? I don’t think or at least I hope frontiers not keeping track of animals based off of a map, region, or continent. I’m sure their aware of Australia and South America lacking and will address them as time goes on. I could see the emu, wallaby, and Tasmanian devil eventually get added. As for South America I could see the maned wolf, spectacled bear, sloth, and a couple monkeys making it for sure. Maybe a couple from Middle East. I personally hope frontier adds animals wherever they may be from as there’s animals I find more interesting then others and regions or map location has nothing to do with anything. I don’t know how many odd ball or uncommon animals get in( I’m sure a couple) but it’s hard to justify a uncommon animal over a maned wolf or emu or common African, Asian, American ect. Just because a particular region is lacking. Let’s face it the game still lacks some of the most popular animals and continents have absolutely nothing to do with it imo.

My personal opinion is that at least one more pack that's more NA/Europe-centric (Tundra Animal Pack comes to mind) could be done, and then Frontier should move focus on getting more reps for SA, Oceania, and some more African weirdos (it has the most animals, but there are so many smaller species that should be in game). This isn't me saying we should be done after one more pack though, I just think dlcs should've been more evenly spread out in general (Twilight being a massive example of that).

Personally I do not like this "We have so much animals from continent A and now there should not come any from these" so much. I find some species more interesting then others, mostly because of own Zoo experience, and this species are independent from the continent upper in my wishlist. I accept that there are a lot of missing species missing especially from SA and Oceania and I would be glad if we get more from these areas within the next packs but I still hope for some missing species from NA and Europe like the Wild Boar, Wolverine, perhaps the Alpine Marmot or the American Black Bear.

North America

Arctic - as it is, I'm satisfied. Just bring in the musk ox and it'd be complete

Temperate USA & Canada - satisfied. The only animal I'd add is the ABB. And, if Frontier loves me, then the gray fox, the white tailed deer, and the wild turkey

Grasslands USA - this is complete, in my opinion. I truly can't think of anything else to add

Deserts USA - ok, here's where we are lacking. We need a little more. I'd say the collared peccary, nine-banded armadillo, and the greater roadrunner. If y'all want a clone, then the coyote

Mexico - ok, here's where it gets tricky. Some of the USA and Canadian animals can be found here, so if we get some of the options above, we'd have Mexico filled up. Notable animals are the ABB, white tailed deer, coyote, nine-banded armadillo

That's for North America. Now for Europe, I'm not sure about their fauna, so whatever our players from over there say is needed, I'll believe them.
But right now, the focus should shift to North Africa-Middle East, Oceania, and South America. Maybe north Asia?

I think North America is in a great state. The only missing animals (besides Armadillo and ABB) are Central American ones, which I would count as being a different niche to fill and so I won’t include here.

On the other hand, Europe still feels massively incomplete to me. I cannot build a realistic European section without the following animals MINIMUM:
•Wolverine
•European Bison
•Eurasian Wild Boar
•Eurasian Brown Bear
I understand that the EBB might be a controversial pick, but I cannot stand using the HBB as a stand-in any longer; I have never been to a European Zoo that has either of the currently in-game species over the EBB. Also, a Brown Bear with a realistic looking model is LONG overdue.
The other three though would be very well received by the public and would complete the ‘Europe’ roster for me.

Other great additions to the Europe roster would be the Crested Porcupine (which is essential in-game but would probably not be included in Europe sections), European Hedgehog, Scottish Highland Cow, Scottish Wildcat, Alpine Marmot, Pine Marten, Red Squirrel, Barbary Macaque and Eurasian Beaver.

The Muskox is also VERY welcome, an animal which would benefit both Europe and North America.

One thing that I consider missing from Europe is the very small animals: pine marten, European rabbit, Alpine marmot, European wild cat, European mink, red squirrel, common hedgehog...

Also in terms of exhibit animals, I can think of many European exhibit animals: common toad, Greek tortoise, European pond turtle, Mediterranean chameleon, sheltopusik, European adder, Mallorcan midwife toad, European green lizard, Alpine newt...

And of course, we don't have any European monkeys!

So for me Europe is far from being done :)

NO
This year, NA got nothing in wetlands, Axolotl in conservation and twilight gave us 3 habitats.
EU got the newt, nothing and then red fox.
I personally like NA and SA the best, NA has better representation then Eu and SA so here’s my solution: animals found in NA+. Also take note of how southern USA and Mexico is lacking at the moment.
Nine banded armidillos, collared peccaries
There’s a good amount of NA and EU animals that can be included such as musk oxen, wolverines etc.

No, i don't think they are "done" but please Frontier focus the next packs on SA and Oceania.

That said there are still a few animals from both continents i would like:

NA: wapiti, californian cóndor, bald eagle, alligator snapping turtle, mountain goat, big horn sheep, peccary, american black bear, bobcat, wild turkey, greater roadrunner

Europe: wild boar, bearded vulture, golden eagle, capercaillie, chamois, mute swan

Arctic and coastal: musk ox, wolverine, snowy owl, atlantic puffin, sea otter

Australia
Most likely- Emu, Tasmanian devil, and Bennett’s wallaby, Perentie
Possible- Exhidna, Quokka, Numbat and obviously more but I think Echidna gots the best chance on the possible list.
Africa
Most likely- Black rhino, Dromedary camel, Baboon, the list could go on and on. I realize African animals are a plenty in the game but let’s face it there’s still a ton of animals that would make fantastic choices regardless. I won’t even list the possible’s since there are too many to list.
Asia
I feel this is almost as diverse as Africa and there’s a ton of Asian animals that I’d personally love in game.
America
I feel these animals are possible but not guaranteed Porcupine, American black bear, Peccary, Elk, ect. This is one continent where I feel nothing is really likely at this point in comparison to possible.
South America
Most likely- Maned Wolf, spectacled bear, howler, tamarin, armadillo
Possible too many to list obviously although I feel those 5 species got a very good chance. Hard to say one continents animals deserve a spot over others as there’s still tons of great choices regardless of continent, region, or biome. European animals are possible especially the wisent and wolverine although I think of the wolverine as a US animal since we have them here also. Arctic animals hopefully a musk ox at least. I’d love a walrus but since captive numbers are very low I doubt this one’s coming.
