Elite / Frontier Every Version of Elite

http://youtu.be/LfDUITBIlxk

Here's a YouTube link for some gameplay. I apologize for the delay, I was visiting some family in Seattle.

The rom was dumped and then uploaded onto my powerpak. I have the sound off on tv, but the gameplay does include sound. I was messing around with one hand, and the video is brief. You can see that the HUD is different than that of the PAL NES title.

On a related note. I rushed out and bought Frontier on release day (or the first weekend thereafter) from Electronics Boutique in Oxford. I bought it for my new PC (386DX40, Cirrus Logic Graphics, Orchid SoundBlaster clone). The PC Replaced my A1200 and I was smitten with it.

A couple of weeks later I got the chance to play Elite on the A1200 in a computer shop. And instantly regretted getting rid of the Amiga. The music was just so much better, although the graphics were not...

Am I the only one to be disappointed that there isn't a super detailed screenshot collage that lets us compare and contrast each and every entry in your collections?

Because I think you should do that. Just to entertain us :)

Well.. I am currently playing the tatung Einstein version. Maybe I'll start with that one. :)

I've got Frontier running on my Amiga 1200, which is nice to boot up occasionally, As great as emulators are theres nothing quite like playing it on the original equipment. :D

That's Styggron If I remember correctly, Geraldine and myself are the Amiga nutters on here. :D

I've only got a boxed FFE now, and the disks for Frontier on the miggy not sure what happened to the others.

Ahhh a true Amigan, there is nothing like playing Elite 2 on a good old A1200 :D. Still got my A1200 here with the 68030 in it ;)

Originally, I had the Commodore 64 version and I am about get the Commodore 64/128 version and Frontier - Elite - Two for the Amiga as well. Both these games still have their original box, manual, and other game media.

Ahh...
I had all version I knew of (except Sam Coupe) and played them on all Systems I got my hands on. Even had a Tatung Einstein inbetween just for that (and boy, it is a bad version), but I was positively surprised by the super-slow loading MSX version :)
I am selling most of my collection on ebay now and only keep those, whose systems I have a heart for.
C64, Archimedes and BBC :)
There was a shot of my collection at a much earlier stage on the elitearchives but that website appears to be down now?
I still adore the C64 version the most (I grew up with it). Among the 8bits, the NES version probably looks best and is only beaten by the Archimedes Version :)

I spent years playing the MSX 1.1. version (it was 1988 back then), loads of fun, what a game!

I still cannot understand how they managed to do that with 64kB RAM.

Geniuses

If you want to see any photos of a particular version/edition, let me know, and I will post it up.

AVGN, is that you?!

Best version of classic Elite that i played is spectrum Vladimir Kladov mod. NPC there had an intellect that gave them the opportunity to fight with each other. The cosmos was felt alive and what should be. And other modifications were quite in the spirit of the elite. Doubled coriolis near star at rare systems 15 tech.
Something similar was also made in Acorn Archimedes version.
