I'm pretty sure that it's just that the terrarforming bonus has that pesky multiplier we can't nail down. You've hit some zeroes, or close to, but that's not unexpected. The values in EDSM and EDD are estimates, not guarantees, and with CFTs the difference can be large. It is what it is.

I'm sure someone will do it, it's probably just new k values, I doubt they've bothered changing the base formula. Unlikely it'll be me though, exploration changes as they stand currently have sapped any enthusiasm I had.
I've asked FDEV to simply provide us with how they work out body values. They haven't said "No!" yet, but I don't want to get hopes up here and I think it's best to give them time as they're obviously busy right now working through all the beta issues and the like, towards the game going live. But I am pursuing this line of enquiry.
I can't see a problem with FDEV disclosing how body values are calculated in-game, but FDEV might have a problem with disclosing that information. It's worth a try, at least.
Be intrigued if they'd explain terraforming bonus. We're close with it but feel like we're missing a piece of that jigsaw. Shame they don't just add base and bonus to journal when scanned, really.
That's a shame. I know how you feel tho. I'm getting used to the new scanner now and the probes are fun to. If I had any idea how you had worked it out the base values and formulas, I'd have a go

I don't suppose anyone has some data on the new payouts? I'll gather and later post what I have so far. Would be interesting to see what changed and exactly how: after all, FSS scan payouts are lower than the earlier detailed scan payouts, but the extra payout for mapping via probes is much larger.
Oh, and at least the bonus for a full system scan via FSS is simple enough: 10,000 Cr per bodies scanned. (Might as well be peanuts.) No idea about a full system mapping via probes, haven't had the patience to do that yet - so I'm not even sure if there's a bonus for that or not.

I may not have the full data but what I've noticed is that Mapping a body triples its Cr value and if you are the first one to sell data about a mapped body you get an additional 200% (triple value as well). So for example, I fully mapped an ELW and its value was approximately 1 100 000 Cr and after getting first discovery bonus, I've got additional 2 200 000 Cr.
Concerning base values for regular detailed scan, my feelings tell me that the payout is the same. I may be wrong though.
Bit of an update to this. I think that Beta 3 might have adjusted the prices of at least ELWs down (still twice of 3.2 though) - either that, or payouts can vary wildly, which I'd find unlikely. So I might have to discard my earlier data. Does anyone have at least some ELWs sold after the latest update, or would you mind probing the following ones?

Oh, but a bit of good news: looks like the FSS+DSS payout is simply ten times that of FSS only. Then again, I only tested this on ELWs yet. Update: scratch that, it's different for other types of bodies. Still looks to be simple multiplication though.

Yeah, I think the work being done with this right now while still in beta is good for process practice, but with the changes being as drastic as they are, I really wouldn't trust any numbers until we go live.
On the other hand, without any checks on the numbers, we might miss things before they go live. Frontier didn't test the exploration update that thoroughly.
Update: because that's how you get bugs like this one.

Just found out why I was getting a rather wide range of payouts for even ELWs: turns out that the first discovery and first mapping bonuses (if the latter even exists) are rolled into the base value, and displayed before you even click sell. For example, compare these:
HIP 112082 B 5: First Discovered + Mapped, with Eff. bonus: 4,322,082 Cr
HIP 112082 B 5: second Commander, with Eff. bonus: 1,350,651 Cr
HIP 112082 B 6: First Discovered + Mapped: 3,433,056 Cr
HIP 112082 B 6: second Commander: 1,072,830 Cr
EDSM estimates: B 5 - 648,313 Cr, B 6 - 643,968 Cr

I am trying to make a small python script to automatically parse screenshots, ocr the body/value combo and then compare it with the scan logs.
Unfortunately the default data from tesseract do a subpar job on getting the chars correctly and I am trying to learn how to train it.
Does anyone have already the trained data for eurocaps (elite font)? that will save me a bit of work.

.While selling a batch of data around mid 2017 I used Tesseract to OCR around 3k screenshots. Worked surprisingly well, although it had a hard time keeping B/8 apart, as well as D/0/O, which I had to manually (or for a few patterns via script) clean up. Adjusting brightness/contrast of the screenshots also helped a little, as well as making sure there's maximum contrast while selling (no light sources/reflections behind sell-window).Does anyone have already the trained data for eurocaps (elite font)? that will save me a bit of work
