Founders World is my home system. The natives are friendly and the upgrades are cheap and well stocked.
I parked up my T-6 there and kitted out a Cobra, so it's my temporary base of ops till I get back to exploring.

Mine is a high tech Empire system on the edge of the bubble(Core side)
How do you go about expanding a faction? I thought the most you could do was change friendly hostile status.
Yes, you can now see your ships in the galaxy map, they will be red squares, click on them and they will tell you where your ships are.Sort of a n00b question, but...
Is there any way to see what system(s) you have assets currently stored in? I took some time off and strongly suspect I have ships stored somewhere with no record of them...

To get the Founders World permit you have to reach Elite rating in any of the three occupations. (Or be an Kickstarter backer.)
The Sol permit is linked to Federal Navy rank. However I'm not sure if you can trigger naval ascension missions by selling exploration data to Fed factions.
For getting other permits it will work nicely though. When I returned with millions of exploration data, I traveled around a bit and got the permits quick and easy for places like Sirius, Peregrina, Alioth. It was great that I didn't have to do tedious missions for them. About 5-6 million worth of data will bring you to allied status with the controlling faction of a station.
Well, it started actually by accident. It just so happens that these two systems are very close to each other (2.8 ly) and I dub them "The Twin Systems".
I started by wanting to be allied with the faction that controlled the rare selling station in the first system. So I started to run missions for them. These missions took me more than once to haul stuff to the system next door.
One day I happened to be in that station checking reps just for fun, not really interested in it, when I noticed that the faction I was running missions for and was now allied with, had now a presence in that outpost thanks to my missions leading me there so many times! A mere 5% influence was shown, yet, the fact that it was there at all really surprised me and gave me this sensation I could indeed somewhat change the systems.
The bug was in, and now I wanted it all. In reality, I always dreamed to be an explorer for a small, yet independent cartographic lab, in a high tech scientific post, because they look sooo neat, so "Apple" if you catch my drift. But my original faction didn't have one of those...and this scientific post was under the rule of a Corporation State, the kind of which I detest, while the "Rare system's faction" was democratic.
So the fact that a democratic state had to freed some employees from their ruthless corporate bosses kicked in. And I started to run missions for the faction now from the outpost once I found out I had created a presence for them there. But then teh War on Lugh took grasp, and I had to be part of it if I wanted to find out how to flip a system. So I went to fight for the CSG.
After Lugh, I came back with a more clear plan and put it in effect immediately. It was kind of a grind: running missions and missions to not end, for my faction to rise from 5% to 48% influence in the system. Now they became a threat against the ruling corporation that was 51%. Kept the mission grinding and before I knew it, a civil war exploded and now I had three different combat zones -of low intensity but of great pride for my campaign- blooming all over the system and had now to fight the battles!!
I recruited people, I came to the forums, I cried for help, I tried to interdict mindless grinders who were unknowingly helping the enemy faction by doing trading with their stations (as mandated by Slopey's and Thrudds)...etc. In the process I found good friends that fought side to side with me, and even other Lugh veterans came to assist with the operation.
It took us five days, but we finally won the civil war!!! And now, the faction controls both systems! Expansion has been made!
However, somebody told me I need to bring the faction up to 70% to then trigger not a civil war, but a WAR, which would be a more definitive say in who holds the control on the systems for a longer term....
Stay tuned...as I am now over 13,000 ly on my way to Sag A* but definitely will be needing help when I come back!
I'm still kind of a noob when it comes to understanding faction allied status and permits... where did you sell your data to get permits like this?
How it works is as follows:
Say you want to get into Alioth. The entry permit is given to you if you are at Allied status with the controlling faction of Alioth (Alioth Independents).
This seems to be a catch 22 as you can't enter the system to do missions for them. But in fact the Alioth Independents faction has presence in nearby systems too. You have to find one such system and gain their trust there.
I've used this thread for info. There you can see: Alioth (78 Ursae majoris*, LP 131-66, Sobek, Ethgreze)
What you have to do:
1. Go to 78 Ursae Majoris
2. Find the station that is controlled by Alioth Independents
3. Start selling exploration data. This will raise your standing with the controlling faction of the station.
4. When you reach Allied status with them, look at the Bulletin Board and pick up your permit.
Keep in mind that this method will only work if there is a station outside of the permit system that is controlled by the main faction of said permit system. Otherwise you have to do it the hard way by doing missions for them from the bulletin board.

Does selling exploration data get you allied with a faction? I thought it only got you friendly with a station.
Would you tell us the name of this system please? it may be interesting for other explorer.I suppose that iv two home bases, my first is where my other ships are & where i trade, then iv got my exploration base. This is the farthest out system with a station in civvy space I use to go into & return from my exploration trips
