Failure Developments at it again

We don't know if that ever happened.
You think they woke up yesterday and went into work thinking, "Here comes a flawless release. Maybe a little hiccup here and there, but thankfully we've checked it forwards, backwards, side to side and upside down, and there's NO WAY we'll have any major bugs like... fighter lag being extended to all NPCs when multiple players are present, decapitated CMDRs looking at their bodies after leaving the store, ships turning invisible from your SRV, engineering being rendered inoperable, engineering effects becoming invisible, modules from previously flown ships persisting on the module list of your current ship, etc."

Unless they took extraordinary measures to prevent this garbage upon the update (testing it, perhaps?), there's no way they could have had that confidence. We know the extraordinary measures weren't taken because they did release the update we've all seen, so it's a certainty that they pushed it out with the expectation that it would be a negative experience for their consumer base. We already know they don't care about this, because remember beta testing? All the bugs that were flagged and discussed openly throughout the community? And the way the updates shipped after beta, with those very same bugs crawling all over for weeks? Hell, they're still addressing the landing gear for the Mamba NOW.

At this point, any of us who care are merely screaming into the void. We complain in hopes that somebody actually listens. I KNEW when I saw FDev's response on the issue tracker that they were going to ignore fighter lag and only address the attack command spam, so I made sure to mention that the stacking instance lag is a big issue even without the command exploit. I saw several other comments mentioning the same. When they asked for questions on the live stream, I asked for them to clarify whether they've addressed fighter lag, but they took a question about whether you can buy cosmetics directly or only with arx, or some other such shill. Lo and behold, ship-launched fighters are still broken. Deep core mining in a wing has been completely broken since it was released in December. In fact, taking the broken engineering, mining, multicrew, wing UI, graphical glitches upon planetary landings, etc. into consideration it seems the entire Horizons expansion is broken. How much confidence do we have that ALL of this will be fixed?

I remember the update where we lost all our exploration data.
Or the one that introduced Skynet AI with impossible weapons that could kill you in seconds. Or the skimmer bug....
Ahh, so you have Stockholm Syndrome! Well that explains a lot.

Stockholm syndrome is a condition which causes hostages to develop a psychological alliance with their captors developers during captivity updates. These alliances result from a bond formed between captor developer and captives users during intimate time together, but they are generally considered irrational in light of the danger or risk bugs endured by the victims.

There was Beta testing once, it was 5£ in FD store to access Beta.
Ppl were complaining so they removed Beta testing before releasing the update!

But hey that Blue STORE button in station menu could be preparation for bringing back BETA testing ;)

Kudos to the forum, it's fun to see whiteknights in full action....much more fun than actual game is!
did they really charge money for something they should pay for?

Do I need to remind FD history on that subject ? Always been a failure..

And more recently, in the last beta, they didn t even check the bindings !! Even for a beta, it meant what i meant.

I was good all the way up to VPN’s, then you lost me. That’s not Frontier’s problem, and they don’t do anything for you, except create the illusion that your connection is better because they lie to you and show you the connection to your host. But if you still have a crap connection to the VPN host, you still have a crap connection.
It is currently impossible to log into Elite using a VPN. So in case you'd prefer not to give away your IP address to whatever potentially toxic players instance with you, or in the case of people in remote regions you'd like to instance with people in a more populous region, you are currently SOL.

How come they even broke things that were not supposed to be part of this update...
It is inhouse game engine that could be poorly written so single mistake in code line can make game unplayable or game engine reached it's limits with all those updates so far making it code mess.
To me looks like game engine is not up the task and that's the reason we don't have legs or atmos yet.....i suspect DB dream interviews were all about upgrading and polishing game engine rather than already developing those features into existing game.

Anyway bugs are normal after each update but not in this amount, this looks like pre alpha stage or it should happen only when major expansions are released.

The exact same CMDRs were there pretty often the day before, the last week or a month ago, yet there were no rubberbanding NPC's anywhere.

As for the engineering mods thing, I wasn't looking for workarounds. The point was that fdev should have tested their goddamn update before releasing it. It's that simple.

The patch hadn't just dropped the day before.

Use the workaround or spit your dummy out, your choice.

In general, FD lost a client. I’m not going to tolerate this anymore, even though the elite are very carried away. Of course, there remains a lot of suffering and this will not change anything - but the PD went very far in a well-known place. GL FD.

Patch went smoothly on my machine (was fast, too), did some trading, missions and exploration to see which actions give how many Arx and had only one minor problem, namely the left/right panel viewing distance being off (which I fixed with a relog).

When I logged off I saw that the patcher sudenly said "Install" for Horizons instead of "Play", so I might be fuming tonight instead :D

I been around since Beta and yea, FD's major patches 'always' break the game for awhile, just chill commanders, I know the game is addicting and when you can't play and things are F.U.B.A.R. you can start feeling 'the withdraws', take deep breaths "it will all come out in the wash" as the saying goes.

After months, I came back to the game the day before yesterday. Set up to try mining. logged back in yesterday, all fu**ed up. Disappointing. See you in mid 2020 then.
