Feature Request: Limpit Warning!

Ever left a station and forgot your limpits?

Wasted a whole load of materials synthesising limpits because you couldn't be bothered flying back?

Guess what, you are not the only one.

It would be really nice to have a limpit warning feature(that can be enabled/disabled on ship functions on the right), that warns a CMDR upon takeoff that they have no limpits on board IF their ship has any kind of limpit controller fitted.

Warning! No limpits on board. Proceed with takeoff?

Yes or No

A great quality of life feature and easy to do!

Signing off,

CMDR Gavin786

You forgot about not purchased SRV. And about inactive npc crew member.
Proper solution here imho is to have custom pre-flight check list, basically list of paper and pencil serves the goal perfectly. Or some desktop application to write notes.

Hmmm I don't mine much but I do carry collector limpets all the time for engineering mats.
So the answer is no, I've never forgotten them. I do tend to over think what I'm going to do next.
That qol could become excessively long.
Limpets? Heat sinks? ammo? hull repair? Scb's? Npc pilot? Module swaps? Paint? Are you sure your flying the right ship?

Umm no, there is enough hand holding in the game already, there doesn't need to be any more.

What's next, a SRV warning (thank your Cmdr dm06), an SLF, and ammo, a fuel, if you are in the right ship, warnings.

If you can't confirm to yourself on whether you have the right loadout for the task at hand, no ammount of warnings, prompts, flashing light or sirens is going to make any difference.

Auto destruct would fix that problem shortly if you tried to deploy what you dinna have. LOL

I think you should be able to manufacture limpets from materials. it's absurd that the fighter bay rebuilds combat ships but the srv bay won't rebuild SRV's and you can synthesize missiles and torpedoes but you can't synthesize limpets. i say you shoulds be able to synthesize everything from your ship panel and also you should be able to repair your own canopy and hull with repair limpets.

You CAN synthesise limpets if you have the required materials! :)

Oh and you can also repair your own hull/canopy if you don't have any other target selected. :)

To OP - YESSSSS PLEASE.

True but it's one of the most expensive synths there is. Sure, cheap mats - but 20 for 4 limpets? Ouch. Somehow 4 flying roombas require more mats than rail slugs that can withstand being rapidly accelerated to fractional light speeds, or heavy ordinance capable of severe damage to large combat vessels.

I do prefer to buy them but sometimes synthesising can be useful. If I'm going mining I will fill my hold with as many limpets as I can squeeze in, but where fewer limpets are required synthesising just enough to get by can be preferable. During Fuel Rats rescues for instance, if I've had a run of rescues and am on my way to another and realise I've used what I had, being able to synthesise them can make all the difference to the success of the rescue - a bit embarrassing to arrive with a stranded commander and find you have no limpets to refuel them! I always keep a good supply of the mats to synthesise limpets as required.

Easiest would be to add it to the existing optional "takeoff checklist" process. I've no objection to it going there.

There is also a "don't forget your limpets" in the ad rotation.

heh there was one of those "holographic" adverts in a station that said "Don't Forget Your Limpets" - I flew through it as I came in to land from a mining trip. Of course if you'd forgotten them you'd then have to fly out and re-dock, but there is a reminder already!
