Lol yes this is exactly it!

We are all going to be wondering about shell-shocked, muttering obscenities whilst contemplating how exactly the innocent Volkswagen Beetle kicked the living daylights out of our armoured Humvee........until we read the VW bumper-sticker, that is:

'Balanced for Gameplay'

I never knew Volkswagen Beetles were dedicated combat vehicles. I know those friendly Germans couldn't be trusted! ;)

This will reduce the DF alpha strike. But they could easily fit E1 Beam lasers, or any combination of weapons. Do you know how large the "wings" will be?

I guess this will encourage more co-operative gameplay. The lone bounty hunter may have to be more careful...

Something tells me SubSynk would be willing to be your labrat in a Python if you can feed him some sideys. :)

Yes indeed! I eat sidewinder sandwiches for breakfast ;)

heh just a bit of fun... But if you do wanna experiment with multiple sidewinders vs a Python gimme time and place i'll be there ^_^
 
Anyone else think it's ridiculous so many "balancing" changes are being made? Many Cmdrs have learned what works and what doesn't. So much for experience... let's keep changing ships and weapons so what worked today doesn't work tomorrow.

Well, I think this pretty much confirms that Python is a large ship with all benefits of the large ship as well as obviously with landing restrictions of medium ships:

if i thought it would answer my question i wouldn't have asked.
there is already a mix up regarding landing platforms... and there might be another "cut and paste" accident.

so i still would like a definite answer, not guessing around based on quotes not telling about this definite question ;)
 
LOL, I'm sure he will find out when wings come online. It will encourage more people to team up, which is good.

Well atm our wing comprises of 2 Pythons, a Anaconda and a bunch of ASP's + about 5 cobras and other smaller ships..all piloted by excellent pilots i might add ;)

So depending on how many we can fit in the wing it may be the sidewinder wings that get a shock when they interdict one of us.

Take yer VW Bug, load it up with dudes carrying RPGs, and park next to an up-armored HMMWV who's occupants are all looking in the other direction......yeah, the bug is gonna pop dat hummer.

What more definitive answer do you want than the dev in charge of ships saying "definitely a large ship"? ;)

Game balance is a process, not an event, so get used to it. As the game grows and expands, the balance will change and need adjusting.

Nice! But if I was them, I would have a harmless looking scout looking for a straggler on his own before pouncing.

There have been a succession of rebalance changes throughout EDs development, its nothing new and not at all "ridiculous".
 
What more definitive answer do you want than the dev in charge of ships saying "definitely a large ship"? ;)

Not hard to guess: A definite answer if it is handeled as a large ship in this regard as it is not regarding landing pads.
And no, the qoute doesn't answer this.

Well, the next Mile Evans' post in that thread answers the question:

The type 9 has a better drive and FSD to ensure it can move that bulk around but from a physical size point of view they're both large ships and the game and stats treats them as such.

i wouldn't ask if i hadn't doubts about it.
humans make mistakes... and even game developers are considered human.
i just don't want another round of balancing because something slips through ;)
