Fer de lance and expected python nerf

If they nerf the Python too much, I'll quit this game. I didn't grind hours and hours of trading to get a good, nice ship and then have it nerfed because some Cobra pilot died to it and went crying on the forums. Nerfing everything that the pvp community cries about is a sure way to kill this game.

130mil to get a decently fitted Python for combat, it absolutely should smoke Cobras and Vipers like nothing.

Python is pretty much an "I win" button now. And is too unbalanced. It can deal almost without any skill both against lesser ships due to its manoeuvrability and it can easily tank any larger ship as it has the toughest shields. Reduce both and the game becomes only more interesting as you will need to think of how to apply the right tactics to deal with different enemies.

Can we please stop this argument? The Python is too good; not for PvP but for everything. Right now there is no space for other ships in this area because the Python has it all: armour, shields, speed, manoeuvrability, cargo space, the lot.

As the devs are spending some time looking at new ships they find that they need to readjust the Python so that it fits better in to both its general class and specific role, and makes space for more ships in the same general cost bracket. This isn't a bad thing, and will introduce new opportunities for all players.

No other ships are out that are in the same class. Lower class ships should not be able to compete. By Lower class ships I mean ships like the Viper, Eagle and Cobra. Those guys should be afraid of Anacondas and Pythons not go LOL shoot missiles I win. The current Python is fine. It can't catch smaller ships when they run and has to say at least 500m-1km away to hit with weapons. I need Flight Assist Off to even come to bear on a Viper. The only thing keeping me alive is the fact I have more shields. IMHO 4 vipers should be required to kill a Python in good coordination.

Thank you for telling others how to enjoy the game.

And by this nerf, I assume nothing ever in the game will be better than the Python ... that's kind of sad when you think about it. The game has already leveled out with ship capability.

Alekseji it is not an I WIN button. It is an I WIN button against bad players. If I fight a smart Viper or Cobra they can run. I cannot catch them. These changes will make it so the Cobras and Vipers will not need to run from a Python. I will never fly the ship in Open Play again if the changes happen because even though I am a good combat pilot the ship is just less capable and will not compete. No Viper or Cobra should ever die to a Python because they can all outrun a Python. If you die to a Python you are either bad or made bad choices.

You need to become a baron to be able to buy Type 7

Baron to buy T7 ?
You meant Imperial Clipper right ?
I bought T7 when I was master or squire, and I got Imperial Clipper with the rank of knight at BETA-1 TUCANE system,
I have had it for 3 or 4 days and got the title of baron last night.

So don't fly pythons if you think they suck after nerf. Same reason you don't fly a Dropship, I don't see anyone up in arms about that (sidenote, BUFF THE DROPSHIP).

Keep grinding for that big daddy, Anaconda.

I jumped into my car this morning but couldn't help noticing it had changed into a Skoda. Apparently it had been "nerfed" overnight because the guy down the road thought it was too good.

Unbelievably half my neighbours think it is perfectly ok that I bought something only to have it change into something else.

When is the galactic presidency up for re-election, or is this a dictatorship?

Yep, that was a typo. There were reports that only a baron permits you to buy a Clipper since one of the last patches. The time frame I have named was pretty much ideal time frame to get to a baron/Clipper and Python in the latest versions of the game.

1°) Apparently, only 4% of the players do own a Python.

And, I think the two extreme reactions : "Omg I took time to farm a Python I deserve to have a borderline OP ship" and "Omg screw those fools, they didn't know better than farm for hours, they don't know what's fun, just nerf their toy to teach them a lesson", are both very human. And very disruptive to the discussion, though.

I tend to catch myself having the first reaction, more than once here, even if I try not to. Because you know, brains, but feelings, too. And yeah, even I can sometime see how the "balance" move was justified, it still felt bad (to farm so much and get a nerf as a welcome card).

At any rates, my brains tells me that statiscally, there should be around 96% of players that : do not care / are amused or annoyed by those posts / are happy to tell the other 4% : "bouhaha, enjoy your loss, suc***er."

2°) Apparently, the Python had been tested for only 2 months. Well yeah, this piece of information did calm me down quite a bit, to be honest. So, putting it down here, again.

Sorry, brain refuses to make a conclusion (tired?). But here goes.

It is a dictatorship, what else? There is no way for you to force your opinion onto FDEV... Their game, they do what they think is best for overall gameplay.

Welcome to internet video games, have a seat and someone will be along shortly to explain how they work (hint it's not like real life).

96% of your neighbours, actually !

Edit :

Come on, don't you feel good when something bad happens to that rich dude over there (eg boss of big company) ? Served. Justice. Universal balance. Karma. So on, so forth.

To be clear, this was sarcasm.

If I remember rightly quite a number of other online games get adjustments as time goes on.......so why the whinge? Is FD supposed to get it right first time unlike other dev houses?

And here is a major inconsistency. Python could not have been tested during Beta thoroughly because it was only introduced later in Gamma. And with its price only a limited number of players could have tested it. And even less players would criticize it.

The rebalancing is definitely not game breaking. Some ships already went through similar changes and it did not cause such effect.

And reading the threads about the Python rebalancing, seeing how many people and especially the way how they request NOT to change the Python, only strengthens my opinion that Python needs to be rebalanced the way devs think. Although I think that it might be made slightly faster later.

I think Mike Evans has nothing to be ashamed of and a lot of people are undeservingly harsh on him. He's doing a great job.

Hey ... Aleksej, are you really sure yet about what we are talking here ???

Yes, there were other ships poised, but never in this mass
and there were ships that do not cost much.
For Python must you toil four months and now you have a merchant ship
for over 100 000 000 Cr

And yes, Mike has been doing a good job, but since he whine at every
falls, and no longer. Sorry

It is amazing for me to see how some of the players are expressing opinions about the incoming modifications way before they are going to try it. Try it, criticize it if you do not like the changes and convince FD that something is needed to changed again to do it right.

Probably a bit less than 2 months, as I think it popped up in gamma, and there was a wipe so I don't think anyone could have bought one for a while.

Because I didn't think this game would have been balanced around 1v1 PVP. It's pretty simple. I understand it in other games. But here we have "Balance" where 10 Vipers can take on a Type 6 without shields yet when a few uncoordinated Vipers can't kill a Python it's "OMG NERF IT!".

It's like playing an all open class racing game and nerfing the Ferrari because the Miata driver can't keep up.

It's funny, I see "it's called Elite: DANGEROUS for a reason!" from people yelling at T6's from their attack ships, but once one can fight back it's "IT'S TOO DANGEROUS!".

Yeah great idea, so we can spend months with a useless ship before they admit its nerf was a mistake ?
