A python really shouldn't die in seconds to a viper, or why buy it?
This is problem for the bigger ships NOW, I know pdt's don't hit dumb-fires atm, but even after you fixed them will they stop a continuous volley @ 30m?

And thats the point.
Skilled player in viper can beat player in python. As i said python is NOT godship.

Sweet Jesus that video... What was wrong with that python pilot? I mean WP getting good and close and ravaging him but that was even worse than an NPC LOL... Take that pirate skin off him hes not worthy!!

We will be displaying them, just didn't make it in time for release. I've wanted these stats front and centre since outfitting first got released.

THANK YOU! <3

Either way, while not having flown one, the Python *does* feel far too powerfull. Its the only ship I'm carefull engaging and the only ship that (occasionally) breaches the shield on my Viper (No shield cells).

I don't get this "nerf" mentality. The Python is a 57Mcr ship, WITHOUT upgrades, and topping 130MCr when A-modded.

For 130MCr, I'd expect my ship to be pretty darn good.

There is no need to "balance" everything "in relation to the sidewinder", because the sidewinder (or any other ship for that matter) doesn't cost 130MCr when A-modded. Some cost more, some cost less, and therefore do not need to be balanced to the Python.

So I for one will be very surprised and disappointed if the Python is nerfed.

Who knows on the Fer de lance? Until it comes out, no one.

Normally i'd agree with you, but all it takes these days is a bit of whining on the forums, and devs are already on their knees. In about a year, the game is going to be a vastly different experience, mainly because of all the crying for nerfing

That is without a doubt in my mind because the python is the only large ship with appropriate hardpoint placement, every other has a very disperse spread so actually puts even less damage on target than a cobra or viper, for example if you use C3 fixed on the wings of a clipper, you can no longer hit a viper once its at ~50-75m, the spread is too large. This forces you to use gimbals, which have major drawbacks, or turrets, which have even more drawbacks!

Maybe viper should be nerfed! ;) Go and nerf them! He cannot be better than my stock cobra!!! i want want want win!!! ;)

because of all the crying for nerfing

Devs should stop listening that crying and nerfing guys.
They playing poor and everything is OP for them and everything should be nerfed.
If you guys cant win, go and make some training, you will play better, buy better ships and you start winning. Or do not engage pvp if you are scare.

Sadly, the pvp crowd has already whined enough about it, so the devs already stated here on the forums that it will be nerfed. mobility will be greatly reduced, making it a sitting duck waiting to be shot.

That's not what they've said at all. "Manouverability slightly adjusted" I think was the actual phrase

I can't help but think that that is the problem; you shouldn't be considering taking on a large combat ship in a viper by yourself because you'd have an expectation of massive retaliation and certain death. The balance for a Python should not be against a small fighter.

But that's the effective outcome. It is the only larger ship that currently stands much chance against even a lone smaller fighter, manoeuvrability is the deciding factor in combat. If you can't bring your weapons to bear then you cannot win the fight.

So basically what it should have actually been from the start then. A ship of that size and firepower simply should not have the agility of a far smaller ship with less firepower.

I really don't get this whole allergic reaction when devs tweak stats. "Oh no, they nerf like WoW, this is so bad, only because of whining, carebears, kids these days, etc". It makes more sense to me to debate the actual changes and whether they are justified. To me the python does seem to be a little too agile, and toning it down a notch makes perfect sense to me. Being against it 'because nerf=bad' makes absolutely no sense. Saying 'ship X is expensive so there can never be a debate about any of its stats' also seems a bit... weird. Finally, considering the devs are planning to add more ships I think they are in a far better position to judge how ships should relate to each other and to the ships still in the pipeline. If they tweak something, they may actually have given it some thought. Who knows, they may even have ended up with a good reason to do it! :p

A cmdr really shouldn't let another cmdr get so close to him and nothing should stop a continious volley at 30m, ever, IMHO.

That is why there are these things called Turrets. You should not be expecting a Type 42 Frigate to be turning as fast as a RHIB.

.
Fair enough, but in a slower larger ship the only way to do that is to toast anything getting within 1km, or SC outta there, as you cant out-run them; as I said earlier leads to shoot on sight behaviour at every encounter. I've never been a fan of insta-gib weapons.

Yes... lets nerf everything. Lets make this great grind an even greater waste of time. It does not matter that the Python is the most expensive warship in the game. Lets make it as slow as freighters. Lets nerf and balance everything to the point that all ships are of the same strength, all trade routes have the same profit and all weapons are equally useless and pricey. I hate stupid MMOs.

But it isn't a type 42 frigate, we're in an environment with no drag.

Amen to that
