A Water Giant. Very chuffed with that.
Should reach the edge of the Abyss tomorrow......Gulp!

Rooster out o7

Water giants I've found (85 so far) have always been brown. Is this colour rare, does anybody know?

Out of the 14 I found in the last 7 days this one is the whitest:

Normally I don't pay attention to those, but given that we did an extensive colour search for EDDiscovery last year and the fact that there isn't a single picture of a WG without any traces of brown in EDDs image repository I'd either say it's extremely rare or that Emmvee might have mistaken it.

Could you screenshot the system map showing the body type @Emmvee ? That would be extremely nice.

Will do, just waiting for the screenshot to upload from my Xbox

Yeah, looks like you've found a pretty rare thing here. Water giants aren't desperately common - perhaps not as rare as we thought when you had to fly several kls to confirm it wasn't just a small gas giant but back then I would've mistaken it for a valuable Class II and likely have gone to scan it anyway - and a white one is looking like an uncommon kind of an uncommon thing from a sample of two commanders with a fairly large number (>160k) of systems visited between the two of us.

I asked the Canonn explorers.
One says he never saw white ones, one says he's sure he came across some.

And one said he never saw white ones, but showed a screenshot of a blue one without any brown oO

If you are ready to go to the abyss and iyou are concerned about star distances: there is a path for vessels with 35ly range limitations:
called the Roncevaux crossing to Beagle point.. might want to look it up. I am headed that way just to see what it is like.....(y)

I would say: Yes.
But as I mentioned before I usually don't pay any attention to water giants, so I might just be ignorant about the chance of a WG coloured like yours.
Agreed. I don't recall many white ones, maybe only a couple, and I do map each and every WG I encounter.

Why, have you got a bigger jump range. You'll have a job to catch him up if he landed at SAG A8 last week and is now nearly at Beagle Point

There is a site called Star Map and you can just enter where you are located and destination - plus your max jump range and it will plot a route for you based on your jump range... if worried about not having a big enough jump range to reach the destination between star jumps.

I used it when I first headed to Colonia, as I had no idea how to plot a route their manually. And the game won't plot a route direct to somewhere far away like Colonia, starting off from the bubble

That's not what this plotter does. This plotter is a relict from the time the in game plotter was limited to plotting 1000 light years and only points to systems about 1000 light years apart.
If you want a plotter that does what you think the EDSM plotter does use this one:

Ah , yes, When The Rooster was at Sag A* , I was near the heart and soul nebulas. Yes, I have a nice jump range , Yes, I would like to catch up to the Rooster but chances are I won't but that is fun in exploration...I just learned about the Roncevaux crossing recently and quite by accident and will go to Beagle via it.... I do not use EDSM... I calculate my own jumps 1000 ly at a time and it is working out just fine. Have a great day. Rooster, keep on doing what you are doing so well

I can't recall specifically if I've seen white ones. I'd say the vast majority are definitely brown. If I've found any white ones, I'm sure it wasn't many. Very nice!
