Fleet Carrier FAQ

Are you thinking what i'm thinking? how long does it takes to decommission a carrier?
Propably not. I'm considering getting one, but the fuel situation in Colonia is terrible, so IF I get one I wondered if I can move it at all.
I think I need 3200t of Tritium to get one to Colonia, but with the 500 tons it's cheaper to move my stuff with a friend's carrier to Colonia and get mine there... still undecided yet.

Question: is the GalMap filter for FC vendors bugged? The FC Admin filter seems to work ok, but I have yet to see an FC Vendor system on the GalMap when using the Vendor filter.

It's a shipyard - it works the same as other shipyards.

If you don't fit outfitting only you can store modules. Because only you will have access to outfitting.

Say you were to install the shipyard and outfitting and 10 commanders decide to take advantage of the free storage are you not out a bunch of cargo space??
Stations do not seem to have the same limitation on storage space as FC do.
I am trying to decide if it is worth the extra cost for the services as I can use them for both accounts it seems. So far I can land, use the commodities market, fuel/rearm/repair, and hitch a ride, seems there is more but I have not installed full services.
My issue is accounts are on different platforms so I can not restrict landing permissions unless there is a way to create cross platform friends or wings. Looks like FC may be a first small step in that direction but I'm not holding my breath, but it would be nice to get a bit more use of what I am renting.

No, stored ships and modules, and docked ships and their cargo, do not take up FC space and indeed do not affect fuel usage.

Stations have limits, look in the shipyard at your ships and there's a counter below the ship image. Look in the module store and there's a counter at the top.

Note that other commanders can store ships and modules on your carrier, then you can remove the services, and the other commander's ships and modules stay where they are. They can't access them but can dock elsewhere and transfer them. But if the other commanders need to switch ships or access outfitting, you need the services installed and active. Of course, you can suspend the services that are currently not being used, say during a trip if you're not stopping on the way.

Correct, although you can at least disallow notorious commanders. However, once all the other commanders are on board, you can change the landing permissions to "None" and they won't get kicked off; if they take off, they won't be able to land until you enable permissions again, but again, some coordination helps alot to know when to change things.

After you plot a destination for your carrier and know exactly which star or planet it will be orbiting, how can you find the arrival point and watch it leave the hyperspace portal? I've been trying to use the FSS to locate it but I haven't had any luck so far.
Make a note of the arrival time. Get yourself in the vicinity a few minutes before scheduled arrival time - stay in supercruise. Then look on your left panel and the carrier will appear there a couple of minutes before actual arrival. Drop out of supercruise at the indicated spot but be sure to keep at least 15 km away. You will then see carrier arrive. If you are too close bad things may happen.

Nonsense.
Took the heart of a Thargoid. It is called an illegal cargo. Arriving on my own aircraft Carrier. My own aircraft Carrier scans me and I get a fine! To remove it – I need to fly to the station where there is a corresponding Interstellar Factors.
How do I fire a team that scanned me and is disloyal to its owner, and then how do I hire a new and adequate team? :D

You don't security is provided by the nearest local faction not by your carrier and crew, your solution is possibly to park your carrier somewhere remote enough that NPCs never show up.

However, I get a fine from my aircraft carrier, not from a local faction or an NPC. Why then does my aircraft carrier get a fine for me? Why does he even get any orders and fines from me without me?

Because your carrier is parked in their system and has to comply with their laws, which is why the fine is in the name of the local governing faction. Owning a large spaceship doesn't make you into your own personal government.

Does anybody know just how long it takes for a carrier to be decommissioned these days? I've noticed one parked in a nearby system that's been marked as 'decommissioning' for three weeks now. Is there a difference between a carrier who's owner has chosen to decommission it and one that being decommissioned due to lack of funds in the carrier account?
