Fleet Carrier FAQ

I'm trying to setup a BUY for TDC's using my Fleet Carrier Market Management but can't because it's showing zero credit allocated for this commodity. I have over 50B in credits and the carrier balance is slightly less then 1 Billion so what do I need to do? Also unable to increase the quantity from zero.

I’m not in game right now but go to the financial tab in FC menu. You must allocate funds there that are held to pay for other players’ sell orders.

It also seems to show that you have used 25000 out of the 25000 capacity of your carrier so the problem could be that there is no space for any bought to be stored.

Thanks but I checked the financial page and still don't see a way to allocate funds.
Sorry, it's been a while since I bought commodities on my FC. I checked in game, and I was incorrect on the correct carrier page. Under the Carrier Management panel on the right display, select Commodity Trading, then Manage Market, then select the commodity that you want to trade and select buy. Now, if you notice, as you increase the number of units of that commodity to buy, your available credit balance on the FC is lowered by the amount to cover the buy order. This is how your FC ensures that you have the credits to cover your buy orders. Sorry for the confusion; I shouldn't have gone off of my memory from a long time ago.

No problem, thanks for the help. Since all 25,000 capacity is used up with TRIT guess I'll also have to onload some of that to make room. Spent over 4 hours searching the Cocijo debris field but have yet to find a TDC.

This is not scientific by any means but I have found many TDC's using this method: I enter the destroyed Titan, boost through the middle and make a few high speed orbits at range 8-15; while occasionally boosting through the middle. If I don't see a TDC in about 5 minutes, I leave the instance via SC, open the distance for about 30 seconds, then re-enter. If I do find one, I'll hang around until I don't see one for ~5 minutes. I will also destroy any other commodities by ramming them; this seems like it causes another thing to spawn rather soon. Maybe I'm just delusional about this but I have upgraded ~30 of my ships to the new SCO v1 FSD's, using the drives from the CG and TDC's I found this way, and I currently have 24 TDC's "in the bank" on my FC for future upgrades. Use my strategy at your own risk, no guarantees.

edit: IMO it's not a good idea to have a full FC, I always leave a few thousand tons available for things I may want to save, like, for example TDC's.

edit2: I seem to notice that some instances tend to generate more TDC's than others. Again I may be delusional and was just seeing RNG.

Thanks for the tips! Been playing ED for 9 years but there are still things to learn. I like using my DBE for searches like this but forgot that it only had a 3D Lightweight Sensor so upgraded that to 3A then engineered it for Long Range level 5 so hope that helps.

UPDATE: With the new sensor I located a TDC within 5 minutes! Guess I won't be needing that buy order after all.

Oh yes. Long Range Sensors are very helpful. I just use my repurposed Titan scavenger Chieftan. It's speedy, tough, and has my C6 Corrosion Resistant Cargo Rack, collector limpets and LRS; it runs very cold and the rest of the build is really unnecessary. Also cold running is no longer required at the dead Titan sites because interceptors no longer spawn in.

From memory, I think you go to Commodity Training, where you have to allocate capacity using Manage Market, setting a desired buy amount for each commodity (and price). So you would indeed need to free up some of your occupied 25000 ton space from Tritium (or whatever is taking it up) first.

What is the point of having a carrier if it’s impossible to transfer commodities from carrier to ship. Is this bug going to get fixed one day?

What is filling up my cargo capacity?

I have no buy orders set and my FC is at maximum capacity, I transfer 728 tonnes into my Cutter and go to a station and sell it, bought 728 tonnes of something else and went back to my FC where when I try to transfer the cargo I am left with 80 tonnes on the ship and a full FC.
I try again transferring 728 tonnes onto the ship then just sit in dock for about ten to fifteen minutes, the FC again only has 648 tonnes spare capacity.

???

Also reminder, Colonia have only 3 stations refining tritium, with UTTERLY DEPRESSING speed of 1-3 per tick (10 minutes), is that normal?

Yes. Usual way is to install black market, find a quest to delivery 5000t of THEIR tritium and unload it all to your carrier using black market.
