Fleet Carrier FAQ

Please import your data via "Import Frontier data" on your commander page on Inara. To ensure the fleet carrier owner is absolutely correct, it is a required step to have your fleet carrier listed there. :)
It just refuses to authorise the import (I selected Steam). :( Oh well, I manually import journals anyway as I don't want it auto-wrecking my Fleet details.

I've done it for my main account (not the Steam one) - hooray! Thank you.

A further question - "Finances" has a graph with "Reserve", "Market Reserve", and "Available". What are these? On my carrier Budget I simply have a reserve of some hundreds of millions, but Inara has zero for "Reserve" so it can't be that (presumably it's the "available" bar on the graph).

Reserve should correspond to the weekly upkeep allocation. Now I am not actually sure why I have named it just as "Reserve" in the graph - I will take a pass over it later, to make it more clear when possible. :)

Thanks - I think in my in-game FC management screen there's just a "Carrier Balance" lump of credits and that's it, bar the commodities training allocations.

Question: what happens if I have money in the carrier balance, but not in my account, and I blow up?

Am I able to transfer funds from my carrier to my balance before I rebuy?

And that now there is no lifetime opportunity to park an aircraft carrier near mineral extraction sites, if someone previously parked their aircraft carrier there? And those who got up earlier took over all parking spots for life? There are no time limits for such parking? An example is a system Hyades Sector DB-X d1-112 in which there is simply no place at all to place your aircraft carrier, since all parking slots are occupied for life.

Yes they are there for life, on the other hand there are trillions of ringed planets with minerals in the galaxy.

This sounds like a job for a suicide-winder.

"presumably" (?!) the worst case if you have no rebuy and can't transfer cash, is the option to choose another of your ships?

All you can do do with an alternative ship chosen on the rebuy screen is to sell it for cash which loses you money on the modules and any engineering. It is a more extreme version of not buying all your modules and crew back on your lost ship.

So - in absence of any official answer on it - one could buy a second sidewinder, to sell in emergency of not being able to transfer funds from carrier, and test the system that way.

To be honest that's the Bubble's cash machine, it's going to be busy. Some carriers are traders, some are miners, some are storage boxes, some are gankers i guess. It's the player economy and reflects what happens around any gold-rush.

I park in a neighbouring system, which is also very busy, but i find it more convenient to jump back there when full than supercruise across Hyades Sector DB-X d1-112 and risk being interdicted.

Sorry but can't find this anywhere - my friend decomissioned his fleet carrier voluntarily (and got his money back) it's still in the game floating around as decomissioned does anyone know if there's a way to recomission it (he'd like to)?

Has it been more than 7 days? The support page says:
"This process takes 7 days, leaving time for the owner to reconsider. A percentage of the cost is refunded to the player once decommissioning is complete. "
You can submit a request at the bottom of the page, I suggest he can try this? https://customersupport.frontier.co.uk/hc/en-us/articles/360014358899-HOW-DO-FLEET-CARRIERS-WORK-

I think it had been more than 7 days although interestingly the Carrier was still floating around in the system, he ended up just buying another one - it came with the same registration number - possibly the old one has disappeared now, will investigate.

I have only one wish towards carriers (while planning to explore with it galaxy sightseeing systems and new Odyssey-planets), that Trit consumption of carriers would either be like 50% from what it is now or that we could store double Trit in it than we can now (so 52 000 tons), you know, for really long trips into the dark (with some SEPARATE extra room for services and trade of other commodities).

Because of the past, I just don´t trust FD enough to believe Trit prices will stay as they are now, I bet it goes up or we need to mine it ourselves.

And well, if I had second wish, it would be that UC would be included without any upkeep to all carriers, just because exploration pays so bad so there is no risk players could get "too rich" with a FC and it...

Sorry to necro this thread...I've not played or been on these forums in ages.

How do you sell commodities from your carrier to an orbital station? If I bought an FC I'd probably use it as a mobile exploration / mining base of operations out in the black.

I'm curious how you'd sell all of the mined materials stored on your FC. Please tell me it's just a button press or two and not me having to fill up a ship and manually fly to the station 50 times.

Edit. I've done a bit of google research but I've seen / read nothing on this specific mechanic. Lots of people talk about selling items from FC to station but nobody has mentioned how...it's a bit like the underpant elves...mine > transfer minerals to FC > profit!!!!

Flying it cargo hold by cargo hold.
I mean it's a spaceship flying game after all...

Anyone else notice that the fleet carrier names painted on the side of the carrier and in the hangars is off center? It's a little irritating.
