Fleet Carrier FAQ

Take her for a shakedown cruise. Right off the bat you can start making money.
Bring a miner to mine trit, a long distance scout and a cargo hauler and you don't ever need to return.

i am in a system where there is 32 FC in orbit of the 1st star and 23 FC around the 1st body

the second and third bodies have 16

do you see that situation often ?

i thought the FC limit per body was 16...

Got a pic?

If your looking for peace and quiet go out a couple of hundred light years (still within the bubble) and look for spots.
May take an hour or so but there's plenty of places not listed on websites with decent mining opportunities.

When you trot off into the darkness remember to bookmark any really good Trit systems you find for future.

With only its base modules enabled can I as the owner refuel my own ships I.e my T9, FDL, Anaconda etc. Or so I need to purchase the refuel module?

Thanks for answering :)
So I’ve just bought one and when I landed on it I was unable to refuel my T9. Is there some place to mark a checkbox or to let the FC know it’s me?

Thanks again.

You should always be able to refuel at your own FC. No need to enable anything.
Strange, my refuel icon is disabled. I will screen shot it later just for clarity but as you might rightly assume having gained enough credits to buy a fleet carrier I’ve refuelled a space ship a couple of times along the way :). My normal way of refuelling - click the fuel icon when landing at a station - is not available on my FC.

you're full
can't refuel when you're full
No I’ve got to the bottom of it, FCs need the refuel module enabled to refuel all ships including the owners. It’s a common misconception that this is not needed for owners of the carrier. It may well have been an early feature that was later disabled or perhaps a pre release bit of marketing. I myself thought the same but having watched a few videos it’s clearly not the case.

Yup: even as the owner, you need to have the refueling, repair and armoury services purchased and active if you want to be able to refuel/repair/rearm your ships.
The only "free" service included with a purchase of the base carrier is the owner is able to store all their ships and modules (i.e. without having to purchase the shipyard and outfitting modules). This applies to the owner only; not to other CMDRs. If you're wanting in-game friends, squadron members or others to be able to store their ships, modules and access the outfitting service, you'll have to purchase those modules.

Am i the only one having trouble buying a fleet carrier. Every time i try to buy one it gives me a "purchase failed" and error "Black Adder". Any way around it?

I got this on release, are all systems within a 15ly radius full of Carriers? thye made it so if the purchase system is full they will spawn in a 15ly radius system...unfortunatly when these are also full your screwed until a spot frees up but instead of telling you you crash with a Black Adder transaction error....its been around since fleet carriers launched and they still dont respond to comments or tickets regarding it, its much like powerplay now :geek:

Last year a bought my FC (stock version, without any additions) and parked it in a system for later use.
Since update 11 landed I haven’t been back to my carrier.
This evening I thought it was time to plant my behind in the comfy Captains chair.
However, after I landed and enter the hangar, I was not able to exit the ship?
The disembark button was greyed out.
I was under the impression that the concourse at the FC would be available without any additional needs?
Or do I need to jump to a vendor or admin system to activate the concourse?

Edit:
This morning I tried several things to be able to disembark.
The only thing that worked was jumping the carrier to an administration system.
There I could (finally) disembark and walk around the concourse.

So, I plotted a course back to the system I had my FC parked.
Went through the whole jump sequence sitting in my captains chair (felt nice).
Arrived in the system and went to my ship and entered it.
But when I was in my ships pilot seat the disembark button was again greyed out???? (what!)
Obviously I wont be using my FC much if this cannot be resolved.

Edit 2:
So after reading some messages in the issue tracker it seems related to the Gas giant I am orbiting.
In "crotch" panel the message says "high gravity" (I'm parked near a gas giant)
I moved the Ship to the landing pad (not launching!)
There the disembark button became active and selected it.
The Ship went into the hangar and then I disembarked automatically. (\o/ woohoo!)

The fun part is that the Computer voice then said "Low Gravity, magnetic boots active"?.
