Patch Notes Fleet Carriers Update Patch 2 - Downtime and Patch Notes

I said 'that I heard of' but I believe you, I don't need to spend my time browsing the old forums :)
And I did not try to change your mind at all.
Again, I understand you but I stand by my opinion that retroactive actions on players activities can have serious consequences on the mood of players, but also for fdev (like having to setup a team to manage complaints, disputes, verifications, credit refound if unjustified,...).

Is it really worth it ?
You think it is, I understand and respect that.

But for me, it's not that important because at the end of the day, all these credits won't give them any advantage in the game.

Its about Frontier being a professional game developer and providing a consistent, fair and polished game service and experiance to its loyal and invested customers. Frontier must agree, because as i've already said this has happened before (and it should happen again). The previous rollbacks didnt seem to be a trouble for Frontier last time, so i wouldn't assume it to be this time. Frontier are in a unique position behind the curtain to data mine the cheats and roll them back...... like they have already done before.... and before....

You want to protect the 'mood' of the cheaters (Not players.... cheaters *). Frontier should be protecting the 'mood' of long time invested players who have played the game honestly. I do not want to play and pay for a broken game which turns a blind eye to exploiters. As far as im concerned that is an example of an online game which i would not want to play... and games like that generally get bad reputations as a result and put off potential new customers.

*(The players who didnt run this cheat, i'd bet would be mostly happy and behind frontier rolling back the cheaters.... Most players the last time Frontier did it seemed to be... so the 'mood' in general would be mostly possitive, i would wager and therefore a good move by frontier).

That's a game problem and one that annoys everyone with a carrier. I do wish there wasn't a limit. Guess we can't ask for much there considering we can't even get custom UI colors.
If there wasn't a limit there would be more carriers in some systems.

Fortunately as there are around 4 times more PC players seen on steam at one time than carriers in the game they are still a minority.

Greetings Commanders,

Today's patch brings a number of changes, primarily focusing on stability and Fleet Carrier fixes. These are due to go live at 10:00 UTC with 15 minutes of downtime expected.

Fleet Carriers
  • Setting a price for a commodity in the market management screen is now much faster.
  • Players can now use "-" when entering ship IDs.
  • Fixed an issue that placed Fleet Carriers in the barycentre when jumping to a binary system, even if space was present around the primary star.
  • Fixed an issue which could cause Fleet Carrier landing pads to be displaced.
  • Removed superpower faction logos from Fleet Carriers.
  • Fixed a bug which prevented SRVs from being restocked at Fleet Carriers.
  • Fixed the timing so that when transferring a ship to a carrier the "Incoming Message" audio now plays at the same time as the message arrives rather than immediately upon requesting the transfer.
  • Fixed a problem with stolen mission cargo getting stuck after being sold to a Fleet Carrier.
  • Fixed an issue positioning Fleet Carriers near stellar bodies with highly eccentric orbits.
  • Fixed some issues with bookmarking Fleet Carriers.
  • Fixed an issue with Limpets sometimes not being restockable at a Fleet Carrier.
  • Fixed an issue with Fleet Carrier shipyards incorrectly interacting with Powerplay control system effects.
  • Fixed an issue causing ship inventory numbers to be displayed incorrectly after selling items to a Fleet Carrier.
Background Simulation
  • Adjusted the way Retreat and Expansion conflicts are resolved: The Retreat state will now be overridden if another faction attempts to expand into the retreating faction's star system by challenging them. The resulting conflict will still evict either the expanding or the previously retreating faction as normal
Mining
  • Surface and sub-surface deposits on asteroids will no longer immediately respawn when re-entering the instance or switching to a ship launched fighter.
Galaxy Map
  • Fixed an issue which stopped Squadron Bookmarks appearing.
Installations
  • Fixed an issue with combat bonds not being correctly awarded for scenario objectives when over four players contributed.
Commodities
  • Galactic average prices were updated.
Stability Changes
  • Fixed an Orange Sidewinder connection issue when dropping into an instance with a Starport and Carrier Vendor.
  • Fixed a crash when entering the Commodity Market on a Fleet Carrier.
  • Fixed a crash when entering Holo-Me customisation at a Fleet Carrier.
  • Fixed a crash when purchasing a Fleet Carrier and immediately viewing it in the galaxy map.
ARX
  • Fixed a bug which meant that selected Fleet Carrier paint jobs would be removed when entering an instance.
Thanks for all of your feedback. Let us know how you find the changes and if any further issues arise!

Well, congratulations fdev, you've made mining absolutely pointless again! First your destroy laser mining with your hotspot nerf (which was really unnecessary, a reduction in ssd yield was enough), and now you've killed the only thing that kept ssd viable (because they're practically impossible to find otherwise and laser mining is pointless now).
Y'all act like everyone has 8-10 hours a day every day to dedicate to just making money (nevermind any other aspects of game play that we can't see because of this), some of us have jobs, lives, etc and can't afford to turn this game into a second job / life. Being able to mine PERFECTLY REASONABLE amounts of money in a PERFECTLY REASONABLE amount of time was necessary to allow those of us with more limited time to play the ability to enjoy the full game and every aspect of it. Stuff like this is why I stopped playing eve online, I can't and won't do a second job.
....and all the kids complaining about it already have an fc and billions of credits in their accounts. Every. One. Of. Them.
Yet they seem to get so butthurt and offended when others can get on their level.

I should also add that I did not start two weeks ago, but in late 2015, with about 28 weeks time in game. I enjoy playing every aspect of the game and really think that constant credit nerfs are just total cancer, especially given the increased necessity for them now. We SHOULD be able to make great money in a fairly modest amount of time, especially when you consider that the credit grind is NOT the only grind elite has.

In addition to credits, a player is also expected to grind:

Engineer unlocks (just plain cancer in itself, especially Marco Qwent, the most worthless engineer in the Galaxy)

Engineer mats (a never ending cancerous grind)

Thargoid components for thargoid/human tech (a grind so bad, cancer is actually an improvement)

Guardian components for guardian tech (another total cancer grind, but better than thargoid/human crap at least)

Powerplay crap (for all the powerplay goodies, not only does this really break powerplay, but is especially cancer because of the month wait)

Federal rank (for the fed ships)

Imperial rank (for the imp ships)

....and of course, bgs, that is if you ever get into the minor faction / squadron stuff (and this one is tedious at times, and actually costs credits. Even if you try for profit, you'll make a billion in about 10 years).

...and I'm guessing that I missed a grind or two.

So, maybe we should look at renaming the game to "Grind Simulator" since everyone seems OK with making credits an insanely long, cancerous, unreasonable grind too because y'all assume nobody has a job or a life and can dedicate every waking hour to playing this grind simulator.

No. Ive been posting here for years now and playing this game for years also. It wasnt 4-5 years ago and there have been various examples of roll backs for cheaters. check again.
This SLF mining bug was a know exploit listed on Reddit and this forum as well as Youtube. Players didnt discover it by accident, they learned of it and willfully used it knowing that its cheating. Frontier have rolled players back before and for the sake of fairness they should do it again.

Bugs and exploits happen and Devs fix them. But players who willfully use them over and over again to bypass the game rules are cheats.
Frontier have a duty to provide a fair and professional service to their customers and if that must include retroactive roll backs of cheated assets in game, then they are all the more professional for doing so. I as one of their customers expect this.

You will not change my mind and if Frontier want to keep long time invested players.. invested, they should not allow for a culture of mass cheating in ED to go unaddressed.

Sit Down Karen!

I disagree. I love ED, have a job and family and don't need these exploits. Maybe ED isn't for you....Try Checkers....or Monopoly

The whole SLF mining debacle and seeing how people can make 10s of billions in one sitting now is incredibly demoralising, makes me feel like my 1000+ hours were wasted. It's reached the point where I'm quitting elite until odyssey in the hope that it could bring engaging gameplay, which it won't.

Aww man look at this.... 13 DAYS ago you were quitting ED because of mining nerfs.....NOW you're quitting because of the SLF debacle? Hmm, sounds like you must have gotten that Carrier....(looks at old post).....OH you did! You also boasted about your 3 years of upkeep stashed too! Wow, nice job friend.

Yeah...Well, I find it both ironic and sad that Elite, a game that give us the ability discover new stars, planets and lifeforms,
to play (dream?) far away from hour daily problems, has just become.. An unending quest for LTD hotspots and credits...

Elite has been accused of being 'a mile wide, an inch deep' but in the end, this judgment can be applied to us (the ED community) as well.

So.. I'm just in middle of making a release for Q2 here at work right now. It's been 2 weeks of testing and polishing the last bugs, in middle of 3rd test "fresh" install. It's a normal process that any dev company makes.
So... How the hell can FDev with EVERY patch mess up so badly? Do you EVEN test your own code? We're not talking about those hidden bugs, it's the basics.
As a long time fan of FDev, I think it's time to rethink some things internaly, this is getting out of hand.

@Crowax Have you not ever heard of the "Works fine it dev, ship it!" Seems to be the strategy in play here. And for testing....how would they ever find time to nerf the next money maker to please the try hards if they were spending all that time writing tests??? Utter blasphemy!

Fair enough.

As long as FC's are persistent this DOES affect everyone. Even prior to the exploit its been borderline impossible to get into Skeggiko O for instance.
And its goina get MUCH worse with thousands more of theese clogging up spots you occasionally have to visit.
Claiming none of this would affect others is just ignorant.

@Dolurrh are you playing the game we are discussing here...."Elite Dangerous"? I have jumped in and out so many times of the MOST crowded systems with FC's in them....the ones where I made my 2000 billions. And I never had a single issue. I also play in solo play, can't have any leet pvper's getting any of my 2000 billions. Oh, did I mention I play in "Solo Play? Its a game mode and I just can't fathom how or why....but...there's no other real world people playing in my game. Its almost like...like I can play the game alone, without other people....no one to effect my gameplay....could it really be!?

Not without them taking action and dishing out a bunch of bans as well as deleting the credits gained through the exploit.
They can easily backtrack who actively participated in this exploit using their API, lets see if they actually bother to.
If people effectively cheat themself 20bil in a single day and get away with it, im done with this game.

BYE FELICIA! BTW, i made 2000 billions muahahahahah

Aslong as open exists other peoples wealth most definately plays a role. Where do you think the FC's are coming from, mission credits?!

Soo....one day I was messing around, feeling all adventurous and what not. I stumbled upon this crazy, crazy thing in the menus. I'm not good at mapping or directions, etc....but I think I clicked a button labeled "Continue" from the very first screen in the game. That action alone took me to some distant new menu that presented me multiple options. This was the hard part because the labels and descriptions of each game mode just didn't give me enough information to make a decision. But like I said, I was feeling adventurous! I took a leap and clicked on "Solo Play".... To my surprise, I was in a universe that no other real world player existed! Could this be real? To this day, I still haven't seen another real world player come trampsing in just looking to ruin my gameplay....cuz everyone knows, any real world player is just trying to ruin everything. But....if I ever do encounter it, I shall hastily come and update this thread to warn you. Oh man, and if I do every encounter another player that's trampsin around to ruin my game, I'll hit the log out so fast and the only way I'll ever play this game again is by staying in the stations.

Fly safe and alone CMDR
