Patch Notes Fleet Carriers Update Patch 2 - Downtime and Patch Notes

You do realize how he admitted that himself? And yeah its supposed to be rude, because he had the audacity to negatively impact my gaming expirience,
using illegitimate means. If thats not a bannable offence to FDev, nothing will be. Remember that when your gaming experience suffers because you didnt
give a thing about prohibiting others from blatant cheating, and made this behavior acceptable.
Personally i dont care how people play the game , how you react to that is your choice of course.

First of all, i dont care "how" poeple play a game either. People affecting my game by cheating is a different story tho.
Secondly, the day this game and/or the community just accepts rampart cheating, it signed its own death sentence.
How many games did survive the next 12 months after turning into a cheatfest?
If you want to be still playing Elite ina years time, you better be vocal about it. In pure self interest.

I for one have never cheated on a rampart nor any other form of defensive structure thankyou.

The use of "Seeking Luxuries" in Elite Dangerous 1.0 was an exploit of a game bug. The game is still here 5.5 years later.

Same with the "selling mission goods back to Robigo" exploit. Game is still here 5 years later.

Same with the various "stacked missions" exploits (especially skimmers). Game is still here 4 years later.

Same with the "long-range passenger missions". Game is still here 2 years later.

Same with this. Game will still be here 1 year later.

Meanwhile I never used any of those and I still have so many more credits than I need that they're basically irrelevant to me.

This kinda stuff isnt even in the same ballpark. I would consider things like this clever use of game mechanics. As opposed to just magically force-respawning stuff.
Well, its no secret that this community downtalks every form of critique, but with defending blatant cheating it definitely reached an all time low point.

This is much more like what should happen.

That's an extremely fine distinction.

Getting paid 20 times for the same skimmer kill because you had 20 missions from the same faction, or selling a faction's own stolen goods back to it for a greater rep and cash gain than the costs of stealing them in the first place without needing to leave the dock ... if you accept those as "clever use of game mechanics" then this too can be "clever use of game mechanics" (specifically the game mechanics around generation of asteroids and persistence of changes to the game world) and plenty of players probably do justify it to themselves as exactly that.

None of them were intended gameplay, all of them were bugfixed at some point.

If relogging to respawn stuff is specifically what you define as a "cheat" rather than "clever use of game mechanics", then relogging HGEs has been in since 3.3 (1.5 years), relogging surface sites like Dav's Hope since at least 2.2 (almost 4 years), relogging mission boards was in from the start until they got rid of it a couple of years ago as a side consequence of a refactor, etc. The game continues, still.

One reason I think the game continues because these exploits generally let you maybe double your earning rate over not using them, so you get all the money you every need in 10 hours of exploiting ... or 20 hours of just grinding the optimal honest moneymaker. In a game which people play for thousands of hours, that makes no difference: anyone who wants to be post-credits can be whether they use exploits or not.

Soo....one day I was messing around, feeling all adventurous and what not. I stumbled upon this crazy, crazy thing in the menus. I'm not good at mapping or directions, etc....but I think I clicked a button labeled "Continue" from the very first screen in the game. That action alone took me to some distant new menu that presented me multiple options. This was the hard part because the labels and descriptions of each game mode just didn't give me enough information to make a decision. But like I said, I was feeling adventurous! I took a leap and clicked on "Solo Play".... To my surprise, I was in a universe that no other real world player existed! Could this be real? To this day, I still haven't seen another real world player come trampsing in just looking to ruin my gameplay....cuz everyone knows, any real world player is just trying to ruin everything. But....if I ever do encounter it, I shall hastily come and update this thread to warn you. Oh man, and if I do every encounter another player that's trampsin around to ruin my game, I'll hit the log out so fast and the only way I'll ever play this game again is by staying in the stations.

Fly safe and alone CMDR
Well arent you the salty, pedantic single-jingle little Susan.
FC's appear in solo just aswel, nice wall of text though.
Keep trying to defend exploiting and cheating by cherry picking your battles...

Well, congratulations fdev, you've made mining absolutely pointless again! First your destroy laser mining with your hotspot nerf (which was really unnecessary, a reduction in ssd yield was enough), and now you've killed the only thing that kept ssd viable (because they're practically impossible to find otherwise and laser mining is pointless now).
Y'all act like everyone has 8-10 hours a day every day to dedicate to just making money (nevermind any other aspects of game play that we can't see because of this), some of us have jobs, lives, etc and can't afford to turn this game into a second job / life. Being able to mine PERFECTLY REASONABLE amounts of money in a PERFECTLY REASONABLE amount of time was necessary to allow those of us with more limited time to play the ability to enjoy the full game and every aspect of it. Stuff like this is why I stopped playing eve online, I can't and won't do a second job.
....and all the kids complaining about it already have an fc and billions of credits in their accounts. Every. One. Of. Them.
Yet they seem to get so butthurt and offended when others can get on their level.

I should also add that I did not start two weeks ago, but in late 2015, with about 28 weeks time in game. I enjoy playing every aspect of the game and really think that constant credit nerfs are just total cancer, especially given the increased necessity for them now. We SHOULD be able to make great money in a fairly modest amount of time, especially when you consider that the credit grind is NOT the only grind elite has.

<snipped all the rest of the entitled whining>

Reasonable money... LMAO. IT IS RIDICULOUS MONEY. Devaluing every single thing in this game.

Grinds... THATS ON YOU! YOU CHOOSE TO THINK OF THESE AS GRINDS.

Why do you even play this game at all? Why not download a game you can complete and cheat to win within a day or two, rather than putting yourself through these 'grinds', that is the definition of stupidity honestly. If I find myself grinding I quit.

Don't let the door hit you on the way out.

@mods: Is this thread still about this marvelous patch or just to have an off topic discussion and insult other players?

Well, doesn't matter...
I have to equip a SLF into my miner and get to work :D

Posting here because after 3 attempts on the issue tracker failing to complete Submit Issue process.

Issue:
Increasing Lag after discovering bodies with GEO & BIO sites then not waiting for the refining scan to complete.
Step to reproduce: Enter FSS and scan bodies, do not wait for refining scan. The go on to the next and repeat until the lag gets really bad and a 20-30sec wait doing nothing until the FSS catches up.

This is the exact issue that was fixed with the introduction of the new FSS scanning process

I would be grateful if somebody can confirm and successfully report it on the issue tracker.
Thanks,
ODB
