Without a second monitor and Netflix I would have stopped playing this game after a week.
Frontier should sell a Netflix subscription as DLC to go with this game.
Quite frankly, it's a Must if your playing Elite Dangerous.
If I was one of the Developers who had invested all the time they had into the Guardians/ Ram Tah / ancient ruins OR the Formadine Rift Mystery, I'd be pretty insulted and also be banging my head off the desk with all these "explorers get nothing" whinging.
I love exploring and I have been having a blast doing the RamTah mission / exploring the systems in that area for ancient ruins etc. Even though I never found anything myself it was felt great to be searching in systems where we knew there was "some thing". Then they added visible ancient ruins to the nav panel (one extreme to the other perhaps), and now you can explore and find these things even more easily.
We have been given a ton of content to do with exploring in the last few months...if you don't realize this...you will never be happy with what they give us.
Sure there have been mistakes etc with the Ramtah /Rift stuff and yes, perhaps better exploration tools would be nice. But to keep bleating on that explorers are ignored and FD never give them anything is rubbish and a slap in the face to the Devs working on this stuff.
That's my opinion...and yeah, I know, most of you probably don't want to hear it..

I've said this elsewhere. Explorers have loads of content, but virtually zero tools to enjoy that content. Combat pilots have loads of tools for combat pilot but barebones content for that combat. Adding more tools isn't going to make combat any better in my eyes.
Really hopeful that that there are more areas being updated in this patch.
Aint going to happen. We've been abandoned since day one. Shoddy system map.. shoddly exploration tools (a gong.. really and point and shoot and wait for a spinner for a detailed scan?) .. everything about exploration is eyeball related. Nothing interesting to find whatsoever except a few arrangements of spheres in different possibilities. No life (unrealistically) out there in the universe except us and the thargoids... come on.
They've been stringing us along now for years with the hopes t hat "procedural" generation of a HUGE SANDBOX would give us unlimited things to discover. The galaxy would have been seeded with quasi procedural and hand crafted ancient cultures and ruins, life forms, ecosystems and then PRESENTED them to us in a unique fashion instead of clicking a "win" button that lets you discover everything. Even the DSS should be showing us telemetry and the closer you get the more detail you get (which should equal the more money you get). Time = detail = money/fun.
I've been out, it isn't even installed on my computer and even with this update I have no interest in reinstalling .. there isn't anything coming in a good year that will show me that they've broken from their baffling formula of trying to make a solo pilot experience into a combat oriented online multiplayer game. Pick one.
I have 2 theories about this. I know no one wants to hear it, but here goes anyway.
1- FDev is trying to build on Combat first, as that is probably the easier to develop and get into the game. Then work on the Long Term, more labor intensive content (Exploring,Mining,Planetary, etc) once the Combat stuff is fleshed out and finished
OR
2- FDev has decided that they would rather have ED be a more Combat/Actiony, get in and get out, Insta-Play Lobby game as that is the better paying demographic. Leaving all the Non-Combat content as is (maybe some minor content updates) as it takes much more development time and money. (think of why SOE did the NGE to SWG)
Explorers cry too much, I used to be a combat only player and had to deal with AI dead for months, five months of ships sitting and spinning and anyone who complained on the forums got a "go do something else" reply. If you choose to do only one activity in the game don't expect new stuff every patch, that's how the game is and its been for everyone.

But ive always thought that the way it has been depicted is oretty much as it is. Vast, empty, cold and full of lumps of ice and rock. Not sure what could be done to make it otherwise...
Can you imagine being an explorer and a member of the Alliance? That level of nothingness literally makes my brain shut down in an attempt to protect itself. How many bad things must you have done in a previous life to be reincarnated as an Alliance Explorer?
