For you, what is the new thargoid variant ?

Well, I just encountered this ship after it interdicted me on my way to an AX mission:

And it is fast enough to keep up with my 520m/s boosting Krait II. The furthest I got from it was about 3km when I tried to double back using FA off. Most of the time it was 1km away, often closer, no matter how much I boosted. This suggests to me that they can reach speeds above 550m/s. I am not AX fitted so I just run from interceptors and nothing to date could keep up with my Krait so this is usually fine. Running from this is not an option. I couldn't get into SC due to mass (and it kept up with me no matter what twists I tried) and it kept nailing my drives anyway so jumping to another system wasn't an option.

Basically, this is a death sentence for anyone who isn't AX capable. I did try sending my SLF out to distract it... wasn't having any of it.

I guess if I see this again I'll just try fighting it even in a non AX ship. Maybe it's weaker and so possible to kill. Something tells me that's not a solid assessment though; it has all the bells and whistles normal interceptors have at their disposal.

Try hitting silent running next time you run into one of these, even if it disables your shield. I caught one’s attention in a Maelstrom once, but it turned away when I hid the ship’s heat signature at a distance of about 3km.

I'll try but getting to 3km distance is a feat in itself. Worth a go anyway.

Going to fit some heatsinks just in case, thanks for the tip.

I got hyperdicted by a pair of these last night with them immediately shooting FSD reboot missiles at me (as far as I can tell).

However with a fast boot engineered FSD it was easy enough to high wake out as there's no mass lock with a high wake.

All in a Krait Mk II, outfitted for Maelstrom exploration: https://edsy.org/s/vMTXI4A

I've managed to kill them while literally sitting on the surface of the Titan as that seems to stop their lightning attack and close range runs making them pretty easy.

It's about time!!! Interceptor hyperdictions were just more of a minor inconvenience than anything else.
It's not a death sentence though, even in an non AX ship.
A day after update 15 dropped I got hyperdicted 6 times, 2 of those times were by these hunters. The first time I encountered them there were actually had 2 hunters in the instance attacking me!!! They attack pretty much instantly.
Flying a shieldless research Orca. Against 2, they got me down to 60% hull before I high waked, and against 1 it got me down to 81% hull.
Silent running and heat sinks are your friends here...I used cold orbiting, as best I could, to minimise damage until my FSD came back online.

These only happen in Controlled systems. So it's fine if one wishes to avoid them.

They're a death sentence until you come to the forums and someone tells you to run cold :p Multiple interdictions in general aren't particularly fun though but glad someone enjoys them :) I can't get a Glaive to interdict me for love nor money now, of course. Now I want them to so I can actually practice escaping them.

I met one in my pretty slow Python, no way I could outrun it but it kept jousting with me until it eventually zoomed past from front to back just as my fsd kicked in and away. It's so fast it can actually work for you ha.

I got Interdicted in an Invasion system returning to port for repairs, so it's random anywhere and not good as it even overtook me and turned around whilst boosting at 490!!! - ended with REBUY.

I was in Imeut 'INVASION' heading to Levi-Struass Hub , but it got me there quicker.

They shouldn't be anywhere but control systems according to galnet. So that's a bug/unintended. I've only seen one so far so I don't have many data points to say I'm sure it's working like that.

Well, I got interdicted by a Glaive in a Maelstrom system(Oya) today. Hit silent running the moment I dropped out, boosted away, and cleared mass lock within a few seconds without it firing a single shot at my Krait (MkII). Or at least I wasn’t hit. Boost speed is just above 530.

It has a mass lock factor of 20, fyi.

Have been interdicted by a Glaive in a Thargoid controlled system, going from a no-thargoid system to a controlled system, and going from an invasion system to a controlled system. Been able to defeat them with 2x large enhanced AX multi + 2x medium enhanced AX mult set-up Krait mrkII

Got Interdicted today at Imeut (Invasion) also, again.
So I decided to face it and it does disable modules, but I used heat sinks and 5 EAXMC's, got it quite quickly, and got 4.5M.
Went from 60% to 30% hull though and couldn't get to SC as 20% mass lock.
I could have high waked out according to some but just decided to keep firing.
Was quite satisfying and best is to not panic (my initial reaction) and keep facing it - there is a long delay between its lightning.
