Formidine Rift... what is it?

A player? Hummmmm. .....so drew mentioning this may be just to make the mistery more mysterious....and makes my thinking taking an asp....possibly wrong.....if the type of ship even matters at all....

I really don't think the type of ship matters, but the Seven Veils with weapons, and the Cobra with weapons, tells me that we only need a ship capable of 23 Ly jumps or greater, and it would probably be helpful to have weapons along if/when we find the correct system.

Has anyone thought about Formidine being something that can be found in the galaxy?

There are several scientific papers that have been published that state that Formidine is suspected to have originated in various galactic locations...

If you are going to get across what Erimus has mapped as the Rift you are going to need 30LY jump capability I believe, and even that will be tricky in places. You could do it with less using jumponium, assuming you stock up on it or can find enough along the way, but you may find you need quite a lot of it...

Is Formidine an actual substance? I thought it was just Latin for fear. Drew likes Latin. ;-)

The core of the problem.....read between the lines.....no one has found anything on the other side yet....pluss what another commander has researched about the name and Seven veils. ..makes me think there's 7 systems leading to what we are looking for inside the rift itself. Strange how there's 7 systems in the paladis aswell. 7 item's of clothing. A few more beers I think before my head pops :)

I don't know if that means that she dropped her crown in the 'system of the Crown' or perhaps it means that she went to the Diadem system?

If Salome can be spotted in-game, perhaps Kahina can be spotted as well? If she can be found, it may progress the story, leading to the 'next gate'.

My point here is that the gates/veils observation is very good as he has already dropped a piece of clothing, but the gates aren't necessarily out in the Rift region.

I think the dropping of the Tiara was a simple act of giving up her power as a Senator (and becoming Salome), and a subtle dig at the state of politics in the universe (i.e. Powerplay) and her opposition to such shenanigans. I would not read too much into it, as that "concluding" part of her story was written when Drew believed her storyline was over and she would no longer be appearing in game.

This planet was the last stop from Salome and Hassan on their way out, and was supposed to be near the border of human space...

Interesting.. I honestly have no knowledge on Elite lore, but it looks like I need to do some reading :)

Ive been saving up and wasn't sure what to do with the credits, looks like I have some ideas now. I think I'll work on a 'conda for exploration and join in the fun. Still about 60 mil off from being able to do a basic exploration kit(I could sell my FDL and have plenty left over, but I cant sell my baby). Should be in a conda within a day or two if I hit up a Haz Res.

Could the OP summarize what has been tried / discovered with any useful links at the start of the thread?
It's getting a bit long to read through.

I'm returning from the other side of our Orion arm and will either divert enroute or take a quick "Bubble" break and set off again. Can't see much happening in the game currently so this is a welcome mystery.

Flying an Asp, 27 lyrs plus change and some weaponry. Bring on the boogy men.

I've just set off from the bubble. In an asp 31ly...I've taken 2 pulse layers (just in case ) got a moon buggy to pick up fsd mats. I've got a few already. I'm following the r & r line as close as poss...when the stars start to thin out...I think I'm going to head "up" as much as I can until hopefully I can see the galaxy "hanging"....then try and find a way down into the center of the rift. That's the plan anyway. I'm thinking 3-4 months.....I've got the fuel rats on speed dial. :D

So I'm on my way to what's hopefully the rift and I can see what another commander has put in this thread about an arrow. Seems it's the NGC 7822 NEBULA. And I agree.....it's looks like it was put there. It's far out of the way and seems nothing to do with the rift but it shines so bright!

The exploraconda/ FNS Virtue is now sitting in my docking bay :) I managed to make up to 122 mil, then sold a few things to be able to buy the base ship and leave me with around 20 mil left over. Will have to grind a bit more for the cash to kit it out, but it's a start. Think my kit will only cost around 30 mil.

Any good suggestions on where to start looking? I'm going to go back and read this whole thread, but some pointers would be appreciated :)

Page 18 has some interesting tidbits about the RR line. I'm slowly making my way out there myself. My conda can make just shy of 29ly and cost a pretty penny. 7a scoop makes for some quick top ups but a heavy price tag. I have a feeling the more eyes and minds on this the better.
