Franchise Community Challenge Discussion

I'd settle for them at least adding the anniversary animals, since anyone who can access the community challenge online has also got access to the anniversary critters.

DLC animals would be preferable, but if it's an issue of determining who can receive what, the anniversary animal would be same availability as the base game.

Yeah, one of the reason why I do not really contribute to the community challenges is that the rewards are only base game animals, which most of them, I barely use. I cannot comprehend why DLC animals cannot also be included. It cannot be that hard for the system to determine which DLC you have or not have and choose the reward animals accordingly.

A quick websource grab of the challenge has highlighted the following key elements .. spoilered ( I think ) for those that don't want to see :)

quantity:200000
event:"animal.birth"
target:"RedDeer,BlackWildebeest,Springbok,ReticulatedGiraffe,AfricanBuffalo,AmericanBison,Bongo,CommonWarthog,Gemsbok,Nyala,PronghornAntelope,SableAntelope,ThomsonsGazelle,IndianRhinoceros,DallSheep,Reindeer,Babirusa,SouthernWhiteRhino,Moose,AlpineIbex,EuropeanFallowDeer,NileLechwe,WildWaterBuffalo,ScimitarHornedOryx,BlueWildebeest,Addax,BlackRhinoceros,Saiga,Takin,Wisent,AlpineGoat,HighlandCattle,HillRadnor"

It looks like they included some of the newer animals so might not have been on the list found on last years challenge on reddit.

Community Challenge 11.25.24

We just released a gold American Bison, African Buffalo and Common Warthog. None of these 3 counted. The challenge is showing 1% completed. Has anyone figured out a list? Is the challenge broken on day 1 ??

Ugh

I haven't started going through my zoos yet, and based on the animal list I spoilered they should have .. so hmm .. another bugged one perhaps.

oh wait, it isn't a release challenge. It's a birth challenge. So unless they were born after the challenge started they don't count.

Such an impressive mantle must surely be difficult to carry! But these animals do it with style. Join us in breeding Gold Rated animals with horns and antlers this week, Zookeepers!

Just doing a quick run before sleep on my A zoo and my American Bisons and Alpine Goats birthing has triggered a success. Will do an updated list tomorrow, once I've had a chance to run through my zoos and empty out some of my storage.
Bear in mind that the trigger happens when the baby is created in the mother's family page not when it is actually born. You can double check the gold status in the genealogy page as well.

There does seem to be a long lag for me, which is making it tricky to confirm which animals are working and which aren't
So whilst waiting for the number to tick from 4 to 5, it jumped to 7, making me question animals I'd ruled out!

Where I think that leaves me, is that these are all working, but take it with a pinch of salt:

Addax
Dama Gazelle
Saiga
Reindeer
Red Deer
Wisent

Dama gazelle didn't work for me 😏
That was one that initially didn't seem to work, but 15mins later the total had risen enough that it seemed it must have done
Now spotted some births that didn't get notifications, and it probably didn't work for me either, and now not sure about the Red Deer either!

But with the 10-15min lag and missed notifications I'm not sure of much now

Reindeer and Moose are confirmed, both were counted.
Scimitar oryx, pronghorn, addax, Black Wildebeest and North Sulawesi Babirusa too.

The trigger should happen when the mother is showing imminent birth. That is when the info about the baby is known including gold status. So when you get an alert about an imminent birth, or if you are checking all pregnant females. In some animals this imminent birth cycle can take forever, so understandably it's hard to track which birth triggered it. So I use the imminent birth marker now and check the gold status for the new babies.

Before I noticed this though, I used to tally per game session, as my first and last task each game session was to check and red pill all babies so that I knew which ones were new each session. But, like you say, this does cause a delay between getting the point and the baby being born.

In my case, I'm seeing the notification of the birth, seeing maybe 50% of them as gold in the management, but nothing. And then 15mins later, my score jumps by 3 with no notifications to account for it, so I'm assuming maybe they did work after all.
But with 4 large multi-habitats for Taiga, Desert, Temperate and Grasslands, it's also not keeping up and giving me a notification for every birth

So it's all a bit random and I'll stop posting things as facts when I'm so unsure of exactly what's going on :p

My zoo is small and I experienced no lag in notifications, so I'm quite sure of mine!
That might have been the better way to go :ROFLMAO:

I get lots of births per unit of game time, but have to pause regularly to keep up, so probably the same rate in real time - not sure I've hit the right balance yet :geek:

Yeah, I'm getting overwhelmed when too much happens at once, so now I keep it smallish. I only have one couple of each species I mentioned.

B Zoo checked but only a few pregnant ones with no near due date, so nothing to say for them yet.
C Zoo has nothing to report either - Collared Peccary ( tusks ) who was pregnant before the challenge didn't trigger, noted in case it makes a difference and these are supposed to count.
DEF and GHI zoos didn't surface anything yet. But both are newer builds and don't have all the animals yet.
Nothing in JKL yet but MN had a moose birth trigger for the challenge.
OPQ Pronghorn Antelopes finally got pregnant and triggered for the challenge
R had a Reticulated Giraffe birth trigger

Running List:
American Bison, Alpine Goat
Gemsbok
Moose
Pronghorn Antelope
Reticulated Giraffe
