Either way...
You will care when they shut the servers down in a few months or a year, when the game isnt profitable anymore. Because one thing is clear now, Frontier doesnt care about its customers or Elite, all they want is more money.

If they shut the game down in a year I would still be satisfied with the product. I will have received a year on a game I paid $75 for. That's a bargain.
I do expect that they will start charging the standard MMOG monthly subscription in a year or so though. As they improve the game it's going to be the best MMOG space game on the market and I expect they will want to be paid for their efforts.
I would be willing to bet you will cry then too.
Wow, that is some nanny government hand holding if I ever saw it. But, really reading it, what did Frontier do wrong here. It was offered for a limited time. That time ended. It was unavailable, now they are available again. This seems like a new instance to me....hmm
Early adopters always pay a premium? I never complained that my plasma tv cost me $3000 USD...that same TV was sold for $499 Christmas...about 9 months after I purchased it.
Also, try not to think that we're a massive corporation of suit-wearing greedy folk. There's a team of 8 people in the marketing team - a lot of you met every one of us the other night. We're not in the business of ripping people off or putting nasty money-grabbing deals on the site.
"Limited time" offers, exclusive skins you HAVE to buy the pack to get, €12.50 for a skin...
The store is not exactly the worst out there, but it's far from 100% fair to the consumer. I understand you need to make money, but I'd rather see less of the "bonus" skins locked inside a pack, for example. Sure, make the pack 6 for the price of 5 to encourage people to get them all, but don't lock one specific one away, so I can't buy it individually if it's the only one I want, or can afford.
I totally agree with Titus ! Every guy saying "This is business" just keep your mouth shut, except if Frontier cares more about money than to their community. I will never buy a skin again.
Between that and guys who bought an "early access" they will never get because of the 16th Dec full wipe. Frontier, you are disappointing me !
a) Yeah, I think I probably wasn't clear enough with this one. Before the sale people asked us to reinstate the ship skin - then we thought it would be a good idea to put it up with the discount as a nice surprise.
b) We came to the decision to not run it again after we saw that it bothered people. It wasn't something we thought about beforehand.
I am being honest.
Every game i play with micro transactions has repeats of offers that were previously labelled as "limited" and mostly for a cheaper price.
Repeat posting in this thread when the OP is satisfied really isn't worthwhile and especially when people are seemingly not up to speed with how micro transactions in gaming work...
We don't know who missed what, chances are the discussion was something like "Mr Braben told me not to worry about it when I said players might get upset".8 people and EVERY SINGLE ONE of "marketing professionals" missed that almighty clanger.... frankly you'd have got away with it better if you hadn't told us you have a marketing team of 8. I thought it might have been just 1 or 2, things slip past 1 or 2 all the time; but 8? 8 is inexcusable.
I would be willing to bet you will cry then too.

hahaha, insainHmm the flag skins are still up but without the discount.
So i guess it's going to stay that way.
I wouldn't mind seeing it come up once a year to celebrate Elite's anniversary along with some other wire-frame skins. I'd have thought that was exclusive enough, but I can imagine some never wanting to see it for sale again. As the Cobra one was created specifically to mark the 30th anniversary, maybe existing owners could receive an extra special version (such as gold, silver or illuminated lines and/or an exclusive 30th Anniversary decal - This version of the skin + decals would never be available again and subsequent ships could be covered in the same way each 5-10 years, assuming the game's still alive and well).
I quite like the idea that the wire-frame skins would only be released as anniversary celebrations as it makes them feel a bit more special. If we just start seeing a lot of them crop up 'for no reason' I think that'd reduce the appeal and after a while they'd just be regular expensive paints (like the metal ones).
