Frontier: give the FSD to ALL players, regardless of whether they took part or not

Huge thanks to FDev for the recent CG making the FSD obtainable by all players. And great community spirit reaching Tier 5 so quickly. :)

Hold on a sec, there's a special FSD up for grabs? What do I need to do, do I need to act fast? (I've never done CG's.)

The CG in which the top 75% would get one for free has ended: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/rare-goods-required-for-galactic-summit.565468/

But - you have two weeks, starting Feb 26th, to get the special FSD with a significantly lowered materials requirement, as listed in the post. After that, it'll still be available, but with the standard materials requirement. Note that so far, it seems that only size 5 FSDs are available, so they'll fit the Kraits, the Diamondback Explorer, the Asp Explorer and so forth.

Thanks for the response. Can't find any mention of material requirements in this thread or the post you linked. Anyway, if I understand you right, there will be a special class 5 FSD available from Shinrarta Dezhra from the 26th? And then we just have to gather the materials to apply the FSD engineering mods, but we'll be able to apply 2 mods at once to this drive?
Anyway, cool, if I don't need to do anything I'll just investigate on 26th. Will be good on a Python. Thanks.

Here's the material requirements from the post I linked to:

Each tier reached will further reduce the resources required for acquiring the module in the first two weeks of availability, starting on the 26th of February 3307.
  • Datamined Wake Exceptions base requirements 18, reduced by two for each tier above Tier 1.
  • Tellurium base requirements 26, reduced by four for each tier above Tier 1.
  • Electrochemical Arrays base requirements 26, reduced by four for each tier above Tier 1.
  • Chemical Processors base requirements 28, reduced by four for each tier above Tier 1.

What’s so great about the module? The extra fast reboot effect is only useful if you get hit by am FSD reboot missile during pvp.

+4-5 ly jump range (with mass manager)
Fast boot Is ok for shield tanks build to survive open long enough to highwake

But most of all they're just great in pve since npc dont module target
And for neutron jumpers - a 2s recover after a fsd reset is fast enough not to bother to repair the fsd as often as before. One can just spam the button till FSD engages

As a shamelessly addicted neutron jumper, I hadn't even realised that advantage. Thanks for pointing it out! :)

Even more range since fast reboot comes with a small range boost too.
It runs hotter so I won't be putting one on my T7 which already cooks itself on a laggy low-wake, but something like my DBX or cargo python? Hell, for the two weeks that it'll be reduced they'll only want 8 datamined wake exceptions for them, which is about what you'd spend engineering up a grade 5 long-range FSD anyway.
After that.... eh, I'd question whether the relatively small range boost is worth the extra mats.

But only because wake data is very much something I have to go out of my way to gather. All the other materials are frankly trivial to come by.

PSA: fast boot is not fast jump. Fast boot is "fast turn it on when it's off".

It is also the timer for FSD to come back online after a grom bomb fsd reset or after a fsd reset due to integrity dropping under 80%

The former is nice for PVP-ers using shield tanks or generally speaking to survive in open long enough to highwake when hunted by a full wing
The later is nice for the explorer that cba to stop and fix its fsd everytime it goes below 80% integrity

So, is this thing available now, or not? Couldn't find it at any tech broker, yet.
