Given that griefing is intentional, out-of-game context harassment of the person behind the screen, any time I kill somebody in Open Play and they start insulting me, or any time somebody goes and makes a reddit post saying that PvPers are all terrorist rapists that are worse than ISIS, or whenever somebody sends Harry Potter a death threat, they should be permanently banned from Elite: Dangerous.

I think, Frontier should really consider changing the game rules. Griefing must become illegal and griefers must be banned from the game! Why? Because these players screw up any effort, other people put into the game! Distant Worlds 2 is the best example. I think, this project will fail if Frontier does not intervene! The griefers are ruling the WP2 system and make any effort of any ship impossible!
Is it that what you want Elite to be, Frontier? A game where stupid s screw up any effort, any great project, any community project? Is that your plan for Elite Dangerous? Really? I don`t think so!
Frontier - there is a good reason why griefing is forbidden in ANY other game! There is a good reason why griefers are banned in ANY other game! Because players turn their back on games where they are just griefed all the time!
It would be really really sad if Elite would die just because of that problem! All the effort during the Kickstarter Campaign! All the development efforts! Do you want to throw that away, Frontier?! I can`t believe that!
So PLEASE - BAN those players who don`t do anything else but destroy the experience of all the other players! BAN those players who destroy your game!
I am NOT talking about Pirates or Bounty Hunters - they are not griefers! But they do not kill just for fun, crash charity streams or make a great community project like Distant World 2 impossible.

OP - don't confuse griefing, ganking, and allowed gameplay that you don't like.

They are different things, and as noted, the brilliant mode system allows you to choose who shares your instances.

If you can find an actual case of grefiing with evidence, then submit it to FD, because actual griefing should be dealt with and I think FD would do so... but it would have to be actual proper griefing, not just killing a random player, but actual repeated and targetted harassment. Its quite a high bar to prove evidence-wise.

The shooting that happens in Open is an insignificant side show to the awesomeness that is DWE2.


And this is why Frontier developed the brilliant mode system.

All these clowns are achieving is reducing their chance of an Open Only Anything. They are displaying quite nicely the issues that would have. Plus they are the ones sidelining the PvP community, making them ever more irrelevant.
You hear them complain often that this game caters to PvE, that PvP is neglected. But they can't put 2 and 2 together. They will blame anyone but themselves. In this very thread you can hear them blaming Frontier for their griefing.

This downward spiral will continue. And the instigators will complain more and more about the fruits of their labour.

I feel for PvPers who desire challenging PvP with game features geared towards it. They are the ones being shafted by these ding dongs. Oh well, I'm sure they'll find a way to blame PvEers for it

I think this is my new favorite way to engage the newer commanders. They have an honest chance of escaping the fighter and yes its very fun and very useful in combat as well.
