FSS still broken

This is still an issue in the September Update. Entire FSS field of view starts spinning like a top when you zoom on a distant cluster of bodies and then move the reticle away from the center.
I have scanned thousands of systems and never come across this. Do you use a mouse by any chance? If so, it maybe prudent to look at another control method.

I can reproduce it with a mouse or a gamepad. It's not my control device, or my bindings.

I have seen @Malic reproduce it on his stream at will with no effort, and there are videos from other people in this thread that show the behavior, so it's not just something wrong with my setup.

I am not saying its something with your setup, but there has to be a reason why I don't suffer from it at all. Never had this issue once and trying to figure out why some are getting it and some don't.

To control the FSS I use a hat on my throttle and it worked perfectly. Could it be to do with dead zones?

Can't help thinking that this update was a missed opportunity for FD to enhance the FSS.

I recorded another video a few minutes ago to show how easily it can be reproduced:

I am located at Lembava A1, and I used the FSS to zoom in on Lembava B. Moving the reticle to the bodies at the edge of the system can set the entire scene spinning. Once the scene begins spinning, moving the reticle against the direction of the motion speeds it up.

I updated the bug report I made about the issue back in May, hopefully to get more eyes on it.

(Slogging back thru that bug tracker to update my ticket also just reminded me of how terrible the new bug tracker is. I tried to search through FSS bugs to see if anyone else had reported similar issues to this, but the whole place is just a wasteland filled with fossilized skeletons of bug reports about the FSS skewing sideways -- duplicates that were never merged with the acknowledged report, or closed/deleted after that particular bug got fixed.. It's a nightmare to navigate that mess.)

(P.S.: I did eventually find a few more reports of this issue way down the list.)

I can also attest that this does still happen, but for the reord it happens less frequently now than it did before FDEV tried to fix it last time. I think what's happening is that some of the input to the FSS is passing through to the ship itself because I have noted on several occasions that the ship is in a different orientation if I hit exit when it starts happening. So I think the ship starts spinning in response to the FSS mouse or stick movement. I have my input into the FSS fairly low so when it happens everything moves around quite slowly, if you have the input high, such as with a mouse, then the behaviour becomes more extreme, and that is why I think it affects some people more than others.
