That's what I figured too. It helps to have the mouse configured for doing the scan in those cases. It's quicker to move the reticle.
I would agree with that analysis, but it does appear that when it occurs, it is usually 2 objects that are close to each other, maybe the main object and its moon, but its only those two in the system that I have to chase, none of the other objects have that issue even though they are close to those 2 that are moving. Now maybe the others are moving as well, just at a lot slower speed, at least to the point that it is not difficult to pin down on them and zoom in.
I use the Warthog to do the FSS, and have the muscle memory already, so to change the settings to another binding would require resetting that muscle memory, and right now, will just stick with what I do since that aspect isn't so prevalent at this point.
The other issue I have encountered maybe twice, where you can't zoom in on an object. One was a gas giant in the bubble, and I kept zooming in on each level, but it never got to the object, I zoomed in 20 times and it never zoomed in. And then I had to zoom out the same number of times that I zoomed in. I tried it several times before giving up on it and just going to it in SC to scan it. But the 2 times it happened were in the Bubble, in populated systems, no issues out in the black yet.
