No it makes perfect sense.
All those Chieftains kill Thargoids just fine, stay in-tact and just get some minor paint scuffs fixed.
Whereas the T10, people buy one - try it, then trade it in for a Chieftain.
This is why you shouldn't make good products, Lakon!
You make MEDIOCRE ONES and then spend the rest of the R&D budget in marketing. Shees.
I hope we get a new ship out of this. At the very least a refit of some existing ones to be more useful.

I'd love to see the good old Diamondback Scout see some love - feels kinda underwhelming compared to the Courier. Or the DBX, for that matter. Love those ships, but they could use a bit of a boost.
That's honestly not that terrible. Some people would fly a giant floppy self pleasure device if it had good stats.

The Cobra is made by Faulcon DeLacy though. So instead you get an Asp Scout Mk 2... with less hardpoints and internals, but a fighterbay... oh, and not capable of multicrew of course 
New ship for sure.
Perhaps updates in current ships (if this is so, ships purchased before should remain on their v1.0 to keep originality), fixing T10, improving T9 mobility etc.
Hopefully not paid with real money.
If we're lucky, more than one ship, maybe even crew-focused ones so they could serve to combat transportation of Odyssey soldiers
What we can expect with no fear of mistake is
People will be crying that they did not manage to get it because it's to grindy or too expensive and Frontier should give them the ship for free so it's more fair with their looser butts.

Hmm. I dunno, Lakon has been lacking recently.
I'm hoping for some re-engineering of the T-10.
I think Core Dynamics (Accept No Substitute) could certainly help out here.
core dynamics are cursed by short jump ranges, they make quality ships but they don't have good legs.
