I just hope the CMs know what they are stoking. Nothing short of a full fat return will repel the flames...

I could think of a few ways it could have been handled 'in universe' quite easily.
Lots of whining that Galnet went way? Or are you predecting lots of whining that it's coming back? Or are you simply saying that Galnet IS lots of whining.
And which of these are you not disappointed about. I'd like to carry on but I have unresolved questions about your post.

Weren't there reports before of humanoid alien duplicates round about the time the Thargoids fully returned? Maybe they've switched tactics now they know they can't win in a direct fight, and are now using sleeper agents to wage guerrilla warfare.
