Galnet voice volume? Quiet and inaudible? Bug?

I’m docked in some little engineering station. When I listen to the galnet reader in the cockpit the voice is very quiet, very echoey and basically inaudible. When I listen to it from the actual galnet page iI can’t hear it at all. I wiped the audio settings, tried boost, overdrive the sliders for the voice section of the audio options, updated my audio drivers. I found that the volume slider of either the music or sound effects affected it more. I haven’t had much time to pin it down. I don’t think I tried it in space. Is this a bug or some environmental effect?

I had an issue with NPC comm chatter being very quiet, the culprit was me having cranked overall sound quality down via the soundcards settings (as a fix for spacehulk stutter). Resetting its defaults solved it, however I did that the same day the latest patch came out so I can't be sure the fix wasn't at FDEV's end.

Worth a try anyway.

I don’t think my soundcard has such a setting. It’s a Realtek built-in, and I had this problem with both me generic drivers and Realtek drivers under windows 10. Realtek’s manager is known not to work with windows 10 creators edition and beyond.

So's mine.

Rightclick on the speaker icon, select sounds-playback-speakers-properties-advanced then select default. I'd altered overall quality earlier.

It worked for me.

Thanks. What am I supposed to set default format to? It was on 24 but 4800hz studio. I hit reset to defaults and it was the same setting. I changed to cd quality and that made no difference to galnet audio. I disabled sound enhancements and spatial enhancements.

i did discover this only happens with headphones through my front panel. Windows still labels the output as speakers anyway.
