Gamesradar - Elite Dangerous Review .. and it's a good one

That's a convenient excerpt from a review that strongly points out two of the issues that most of us have been harping about for months:

"The galaxy can feel lifeless at times"

"Playing with friends is unnecessarily difficult"

And no one disagrees on these points (well, except for lifeless but that can improve with time).

Disagreement was how reviews will score or evaluate game - do they completely throw out actual stuff in game and complain about missing stuff and issues, or they do balanced overview. Seems reviews for ED tilts towards more balanced POV.

That a niche game like Elite can generate that amount of traffic and feelings among the player-base compared to "mammoths" like Far Cry is pretty encouraging IMO. :)

Or it has a better fanbase who just keeps voting it up with 10 points no matter what flaws it has.

And why do you suppose it has a strong fanbase?

Because a lot of players are psychologically 'locked in' to be affirmative because they spent a lot of money on a game, or they desperately hope for a more fleshed out game in the future, and a low score from them now would make that less likely?

Hey, just a thought. I still like the game.

Hah! Indeed.

*facepalm*

That is an automatic AD on the site. It doesn't even turn up for me since I got Adblock installed.

Which is also why it links to the wrong product.

Once again. ED is only available on FDs own store.

That'd be a wonderful argument IF I didn't have ABE installed and running. On top of being familiar with Georiot's affiliate management product. An affiliate link is different from an display ad since that require direct input on the part of the content provider. So they definitely overlooked that. I just thought it was funny. Poor due diligence on the web staff. Do have a sense of humor.

In fairness - he awarded it 4 stars out of 5 - so I'm hardly cherry picking to fake a positive vibe.
