Here I was thinking I was going nuts because the ship's voice seemed so far away - I swapped out my headphones for newer ones and messed around with all the audio controls thinking something weird was going on with my PC.

Yeah, I got that. They said "at least an hour"... so this could mean everything. I would appreciate something like "We are done! Have fun!"
They are implementing the Specsavers patch for the VR guys, so in classic Specsavers lingo: "Your glasses ready in about an hour!"
No, you're not the only one. I am not adjusting anything at my end as I have too many other games that are working perfectly, so I hope FD adjust it, I'm sure they will, it was fine up to the end of beta

Good point. Does "upgrade" only appear, when the Servers are up again? Thought it would be kind a preload thing.

In the end, she understands.
My girlfriend is aware it's testing and watches the game sometimes, pointing to things she thinks go wrong. She had me see some bugs I missed. They weren't missed by others though and most of the time known.

Usually you can press "play" right after the upgrade and get into the game. So i assume, you don't get it before there are servers up and (kind of) running.

You do realise (I hope you do) that the Telemetry is put in to help fix things... it's not there to inconvenience you or clutter up the internet for the sake of it.... I could level that accusation (cluttering up the internet) at quite a lot of the daft posters in these forums of late... until today you were not in that group... Oh dear...
