Maybe so but there is a known bugs list to check when ticketing and it is not shown on that list, so it needs to be asked. If it was on the list I wouldn't need to even mention it in the forum. It may be 'cosmetic' to some, but actually it is an important feature that needs to be right. I do not expect it to be fixed as a priority, but I would like to see it acknowledged, that's all.
Their known bugs list is not updated, or not complete, seeing that they only have 8 issues listed there, versus 415 in my list! (admittedly not all of those are confirmed). Although they do have >50,000 support tickets...
Here's all the info I collected about the
voice bugs, some users have figured out what is wrong in detail, and this would help the developers to debug it. I highlighted the three main insights.
ship voice for 5.1 audio systems was crippled in beta 3.9 - it´s turned up 100% but near unhearable, ship computer voice too quiet / not adjustable to be loud; Game Ship Voice ultra quiet. Game sound effects are very loud. The in-game sliders do not work correctly - If I reduce game effects, it also reduces ship voice, if I reduce effects completely, ship voice is also muted, even with ship voice slider at full. ; The volume of the ship's computer voice is a little low (As are the station announcements in my opinion). What happened to the voice when entering supercruise or hyperspace? I like the old one better. This one sounds a bit... overdone. I don't know. As if the pronunciation is a bit too harsh; Only issues I did note are the Ship Voice volume to low and is always charging Friendship Drive to jump for some reason (the Voice in 3.05 was miles better), this one needs elocution lessons; Ship voice sounds coarse, like she has a cold; only 44.1khz sounds works all right, the higher the frequencie, the lower the cockpit voice is. It sounds like a sick whale when its 192khz
Here is a sample of a few other interesting bugs from
my big list in addition to the ones I mentioned before:
- "Docking computer remains a severe safety hazard due to incomplete/buggy approach parameters/condition checks and especially near-complete lack of collision avoidance/traffic awareness" (and the docking computer AI is presumably the same as the NPC docking AI, which explains why so many of them crash or get shot down by the station)
- Galaxy map - not worth the paper its written on for planning journeys because as soon as you come pout of it your destination is lost.
- leaving a pad and re-requesting docking rotates the pad 180, the old beta bug of sometimes having to land your ship on the pad facing the exit direction
- landing pads on outposts frequently dont work. the docking alignment system doesn't come up and you can't land, despite a pad being designated for you. "I noticed this seems to happen after another player/NPC has just undocked from a (or the same?) pad."
- NPCs: can charge FSD near station (while mass locked)
- interdicted, but nobody is there
- buy / trade-in ship: If you want to buy a ship the current logic only looks if your bank account is viable, does not allow to "trade in" current ship automatically
- mission / permit - Just got finally a mission from He Bo to do some deliveries to Alioth... I thought great Frontier style they'll give me the permit... nope no permit which leads me to believe that they shouldn't have offered it to me to begin with
- pirates in deep space - There are pirates even in regions of space where there appears to be no other sign of life
- Mission - can collect goods from same station's market - get us 4 basic med for 9.5k - I bought in the same station's commodity market for 804cr, nice profit, but a bit daft
- Missile bug (a fairly old bug still hanging around): naughty pirate type is behind you (say about 2km) and fires a missile at you. You hear the warning sound. Missile magically teleports about 3-4km in front of you! Lightning reflexes to avoid getting it head on.
- the 40 seconds cooldown after interdiction does not work on NPCs
- Auto Field-Maintenance Unit should repair hull
- System Authority will act aggressively towards players that get in their firing line
- economies: lack of diverse economies near start position
Now that we have a feature freeze, we are just now entering what is normally called a "Beta testing" phase. Frontier should have allowed at least 3 months after "gamma" (the real beta) to complete this testing and fix the most serious and embarrassing bugs, without adding any major new features. The consequence of releasing 2.5 months early is likely to be relatively poor reviews and reception. In my opinion any "Christmas" effect is not going to be worth the inevitably lower metacritic score. I wish they would reconsider the release date.
