I agree, it's good attention to detail to give us the option to start with the default 100cr.

I think I'll tell myself I passed my pilot classes with a distinction and was awarded a bonus to give me 500cr

We're fixing the Explorer starting with a stolen ship right now. I'll post when it's fixed, but you'll need to clear your save and create a new commander.
