I think that's right, too polite initially, and why they did it now. They should have sent that message first.

They would have looked much better issuing that second statement from the start. Be trending over that. Not take 2 goes at it. Rally, this is poor work by them. Yes the upshot is they're trending on Twitter (sad sounding yay) but they have proper bumbled this. They're no fools is the answer to that. Trending on Twitter? Lovely jubbly.
this is what the 2nd message says, let's wait and see how that floats! personally i find that to be a gross exaggeration which may backfire in comically ways too, but this overblown righteousness could also work to alienate their problem away. will see!His content is immature and he goes out of his way to make jokes about the game. Its how his channel works. Its not the sort of content that usually endears you to a developer though.
well, he plays his cards. it appears this isn't over yet ...I also find his complaining about not getting a free key rather silly.
Frankly I could not envision that kind of outcry happening if Hardware Unboxing would've been some sort of potty humor tech review channel. Not a couple of months ago Nvidia pulled this same nonsense with a youtube tech channel. Given access in the past but some reviews had been critical and so they 'dropped' him from their list of creators who would get future access. Big drama ensues, and massive tech peeps like Linus get involved and call Nvidia out for it. Nvidia back track and end up looking petty and foolish.
It looks like they have not given him the key because he makes overly critical videos about their product
C’mon Agony, you are usually a reasonable poster. Skip ahead to 7:20 mins and I think you will get his point. It’s funny how people (not meaning you) on this forum will focus on certain rants and completely ignore his very positive videos like the one he did recently on the community. (Why do you play Elite Dangerous)
well, he plays his cards.
sighI can't believe they even tried to say the keys are limited though.
lol seriously.Frontier just lost a whole bunch of credibility on their marketing side as well. We can see what's going on now.. anyone with a free key is now suspect of at least whitewashing any problems.
They lie to him and then later say they actually object on moral grounds. They're ok with lying though. Poor work from their PR/Comms team.I can't believe they even tried to say the keys are limited though.
Well, you know that none of us playing the alpha will see the game as it is...He's saying maybe FD are worried that there is something that they don't want him to see.
They said exactly the same thing about the Ascendant suit a while ago where it only had a limited number, I'm starting to understand Yamik's nowI can't believe they even tried to say the keys are limited though.

The key he requested is a pre-release key. You cant buy them. These are limited. By Valve, who runs Steam. They do this for all games. They basically say that if you want to give away more keys than they give you should just go into full Early Access mode. This is clearly documented by them. All actual game journalists know this.
He is upset because this means he is a simple pleb like all of us and he will miss all the big clicks leading up to the alpha launch. He is missing out on this because he isn't an actual game reviewer but a content creator who consistently acts like a dingleberry because that is what his base enjoys. Its a role he plays, for money. Which is fine, but then at least grow a pair and accept that if you constantly insult people you dont get to go to their birthday party. Most of us learn this in kindergarten. Consequences for your actions.
Its odd how the people with the loudest mouths are always the people who can take absolutely nothing back.
Ever noticed how most elections are very even? The thin line between being rude or not is not well defined and it changes over time. The line is where there is something close to a 50/50 consensus and the line is fuzzy. Depending on who you are, you have different limits. That someone gets offended does not, strictly speaking, make them right, but this is probably not about Fdev being offended over the profanity, as much as it seems like somebody having a sore toe, when it comes to the management and strategy of the company. I think we should all get along and be nice, but that includes being able to take critique and accept a few hiccups from everybody else.My point is that (from my perspective) it's not about him being critical, but about the way he does it.
To use another example - if there was a content creator who would make sexist jokes and used racial slur, I don't think anyone would be surprised if he would have been denied free alpha access.
I believe it's the same thing in this case - by giving him something, they might be seen as condoning that kind of content (faul language, vulgar jokes, etc). And they are family friendly company after all.
Ehh, I think they were just being polite tbh. Like when your friend asks why he's not invited to the wedding; it's bad-form to just out and out tell him "Barry, it's because you smell of excrement"
