What it appears to be is that they recognise that this is one particular streamer who does not meet their requirements... Curious that in the reddit post mentioned earlier the first comment following said:
Hey man, I've been watching your content for years so don't think I'm here to poo-poo on you. I like your videos and I think there's definitely a place for salty videos about the games flaws.
But you need to realize that you've built an entire channel dedicated to dunking on this game and it's developer. Positivity is pretty rare in your content, and I don't think you need me to tell you that. There are bound to be consequences for extreme and continuous negativity, and this is it. Your entire shtick is generating bad press for them, I don't think there should have been any expectation of you getting a key based on the tone of your videos.
Odyssey is probably a big deal for Fdev and its going to draw a lot of eyes to the game and it's related content on YouTube. Of course they're not going to give a key to someone that they already know is going to poo-poo all over it. Again, criticism is needed but yours is extreme, constant, and not always fair. You paint a picture of E
as an irredeemably awful piece of garbage made by a totally inept developer that rarely if ever does anything right. It shouldn't be any surprise that they're not interested in such a biased creator generating content on their big new update and killing the hype unnecessarily.There were a few more of similar ilk... I think you are reading too much to it.
Personally I'm under impression that FDev as a company is mostly interested about our continuing customer relationship. I actually today gave them some Euros in exchange of their DLC (though admittedly it was before knowing that content creator with OVER 100K SUBSCRIBERS was so crudely and unfairly not given a free pass).

To answer your question regarding 'what this means for the rest of us', I will explain:It means we have to buy the thingy too. Because we are customers, they are the company, and the general idea is that we give them monies so they can recouperate the costs of making the thingy. Thats kinda how all this stuff works. You do stuff throughout the day, your employer gives you monies, you give your monies to other companies, they give that money to their employees so they can spend their monies on other stuff and so forth. They were never really considering giving all of us the thingy for free, because then they dont have the monies. Remember: it costs monies to make the thingy.

Hold your horses. Yamiks has a personal way of stating stuff, but mostly he has been doing videos about how to play the game, which to some of us (~20% of the community) have been very helpful and informative. I think some of you should go and watch some of his videos. If you can live with the profanity and the intelligent sarcasm, it turns out that he's a pretty decent guy, who loves the game and wants it to become even better. Don't we all?
Is the alpha key the content creators are getting the same as the one people who bought to Deluxe Alpha package are getting next week, or is there a difference? If not, then I don't understand why he just couldn't have bought one. Just saw a video on his channel about how Frontier is discriminating against loyal content creators and how bad their marketing is, in other words, ranting because he didn't get a free copy.
Youtube pays pretty crappy though. You have to really be among the absolute heavy hitters to make any kind of serious money. OnlyFans is where its really at, but that is kinda a rough place for the camera-shy content creator.
This is the point. I'm not sure why a company should give dispensations to individuals who are legitimately abusive to/about them.
I mean the guy is borderline abusive to them on their own twitter threads at times.
I think their polite "no" to the key request was quite reasonable and professional. Unlike ... well.
