Give Yamiks an Alpha key!

FD in so many words say that Yamiks does not align with the brand, and is excluded from the collaboration (for this launch at least).
That is about exactly what they should probably have said.

Yamiks is frustrated he is going to miss out on a big release (well, the big release for ED, and a lot hinges on it) which means that early click nectar flows to others.
He's not even missing out - he can (and will) buy the same Alpha key we all get. I think most of his annoyance was aimed at the first response - which sounded bogus. And in deed turned out to be.
FD could and should have been better at communicating why though- the later message should have been the first.
The second message should have been run past a colleague as it was too personal / preachy. All they needed to do was what you said 'you don't match our brand image so we won't be supporting you'. Yamiks would still have been unhappy (because ... Yamiks), but I think he would have understood.

In some ways they've made the same mistake that annoys them about Yamiks himself - misattribution of bad intent:

Yamiks: I don't like this feature - the game devs must be idiots! (They're not - they jusy made a different decision)
Fdev: Yamiks we don't like your language - you must be trying to upset people! (He's not - he's trying to be humorous & edgy)

But he will miss out on the pre release keys (I assume?)- i.e. streamers get a head start so they can make content. Is everyone (even streamers) using the alpha 'as is' then?

Well, now he knows what to avoid :D The problem with edgy humour is it is highly polarizing and (IMO) only a matter of time before it caught FDs attention (since this is a pivotal time for ED).

From his video it was just a standard Alpha key. That was the impression I got anyway 🤷‍♀️

(I would support the idea of streamers getting a preview - then they would be the only ones asking 'are the servers up?')

He can haz mine

I'm under no illusions about Yamiks- his ego was kicked in the soft bits when he was not deemed 'core', and set him off. The thing is with people like that you need to define your stance on content really well, because Yamiks sails close to the wind and will test the boundaries of whats deemed acceptable. This will be a test of character going forwards- he has to be careful to remain objective and separate out his grievances from the content he'll be reviewing.

Well he certainly is core, don't you agree? So why didn't they give him an alpha key? And why the lies about him not being core?
Ego perhaps?

When a corporation talks about "their core content creators", they don't have to refer to some kind of "objective" wider definition of "core" - their core content creators are exactly who they consider to be their core content creators.

Judging by the second message from FDev, it's pretty clear that they simply think that Yamiks doesn't fit the brand they want to market and they don't want to endorse him because of that. Thus, he didn't get the key.

No I don't agree he is 'core' at all- I'd argue there are very few streamers (about three) who would fit what I'd define as what FD describe as 'core'.

And why should he be special? What is he bringing to the brand? If he is a net filter rather than enhancing anything I'm not surprised he's on the timeout bench.

In the end its up to FD to define who is important to them, and not to be surprised when FD drop them later.
